Второй альбом английских металистов Venom стал одним из самых важнейших событий в метале. Одно уже его название говорило само за себя – блэк метал, чёрный метал. Музыка которая должна была быть самой мрачной, самой дьявольской и самой страшной на свете… Именно «Black Metal» считается многими поклонниками группы её лучшим альбомом. Кроме того этот диск является знаковым как в творчестве группы, так и в стиле в целом. Venom исповедовал блэк метал, он создал эту идиологию, привнёс сатанизм и оккультизм в метал, сделал его расположение законным, однако он никогда не играл технически БЛЭК МЕТАЛ. Хотя тут спорить можно очень долго – если рассматривать группу как представителя первой волны - то это конечно же самый настоящий блэк.
