Один из лучших сладж-альбомов 90-х, где на высоте и форма, и содержание. Crowbar – прежде всего эталонное тяжелое повествование на общепонятные темы. Тяжесть конструкций в случае с этой группой всегда была прямым следствием груза мыслей и воспоминаний, поскольку Crowbar – ну очень песенная команда. В интро размашистый манифест, словно говорящий: этот альбом будет концентрацией возможностей задумчивого грува и кача, а также обобщением эмоционального опыта предшествующих лет. Тяжелые переливы риффов “Planets Collide” ставят перед глазами возможный сценарий: заплыв по горной реке – тревожно, но настоящее потрясение застигаешь лишь на порогах. Со временем порогов становится все больше, путь по альбому – все более непроходимым. Виндстейн отказался от скоростных ходов (правда, яростно отыгрался единожды – “Scattered Pieces Lay ” – вот взаправдашний дум-металкор), все силы направлены на насыщение медленных риффо-комбинаций плотью и обогащение их структуры. Результатом явился потрясающий союз думовой вязкости и зубодробительных брейкдаунов.
