Fates Warning - группа по всем энциклопедическим источникам первой заигравшей классический прогрессив метал. Но это было в далекие 80-е. А сейчас за окном – уже 21 век. И тут следует говорить, что на самом деле Fates Warning еще в далеком 89 году с альбомом «Perfect Symmetry» первыми создали совершенно другой жанр, отличный от той музыки, что играют уже давным-давно Dream Theater и их клоны. Я бы назвал их родоначальниками жанра post progressive metal – того жанра, который и должен главенствовать в музыке именно 21 века. Уже «Perfect Symmetry» был далек от, собственно, метала.
