Годы работы не прошли даром, альбом действительно хорошо слушается и станет настоящим бальзамом на раны тех, кто не принял последние работы Arcturus. Именно в Thundra влияние этой команды, характерной неожиданными поворотами, красивыми и мелодичными акустическими вставками и резкими сменами блэкового скрима на чистый вокал, ощущается буквально в каждом треке, а если добавить к этому и мелодичность раннего Borknagar’a, то диск может и вовсе оказаться в Ваших фаворитах.

Дебют Voivod - это крайне гаражная и, в то же время, атмосферная (!) гитара, это простые полу-панковые, полу-рок-н-ролльные темы, это скоростные трэш-спидовые риффы, это остервенелый крик вокалиста и, конечно, специфические «псайко»-штучки, производимые в основном опять же гитаристом. Создается впечатление ржавой иррациональной колымаги на всех парах мчащейся в космический ад. Неплохое начало, по-моему - так выгодно отличающееся от последующего, чересчур мутного и навороченного диска.

Уверен, что мнения по поводу нового релиза финских чернушников-анархистов разделятся. В принципе, Impaled Nazarene записали свой самый неблэковый альбом. Большей частью он состоит из рок-н-ролльно-хардкоровых перлов - вероятно, так могли бы сыграть Лемми Килмистер, Уотти Бьюкэн и Мэниак, соорудив совместный проект (не дай бог!). Откровенно блэк-металлических вещей три - "Absence Of War", "Humble Fuck Of Death" и пятнадцатисекундная "Satan Wants You Dead". The song's piano melody was composed by guitarist Tony Iommi, who was experimenting with the instrument in the studio. The lyrics were by bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne has referred to the song as "heartbreaking". It was recorded over two four-months periods, July to October 2008 and May to July 2009, in Midlake's recording studio in Denton, Texas.

Another Side is an album released on 12 November 2007 by John Barrowman under the Sony BMG label. The album is composed entirely of chosen cover songs. Speaking of his decision to release his solo album, Barrowman stated that it wasn't about launching a pop career, but about giving people a chance to see "Another Side" to him as an entertainer. The album reached number 22 on the UK Album Charts and was certified gold on 11 January 2008; Barrowman was subsequently presented with a 'Gold Disc' to acknowledge this on The Alan Titchmarsh Show in February of that year.

The Extremist lives up to its name, continuing Joe Satriani's tradition of exploring new musical and compositional ground. Super Colossal is the eleventh studio album by guitarist Joe Satriani, released on March 14, 2006 through Epic Records.
