Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II, also known as More Bob Dylan Greatest Hits in certain territories, is the second greatest hits album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. It was released on November 17, 1971, through Columbia Records. A double album, the set contains previously released material spanning The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (1963) to the "Watching the River Flow" single (released in June 1971), as well as previously unreleased recordings of songs written by Dylan which had been hits for other artists.

Planet Waves is the fourteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on January 17, 1974, by Asylum Records in the United States and Island Records in the United Kingdom.
Dylan is supported on the album by longtime collaborators the Band, with whom he embarked on a major reunion tour (documented on the live album Before the Flood) following its release. With a successful tour and a host of publicity, Planet Waves was a hit, enjoying a brief stay at No. 1 on the US Billboard charts—a first for the artist—and No. 7 in the UK. Reviews were generally positive; critics were not as negative as they had been with some then-recent Bob Dylan albums (namely Self Portrait and Dylan) but still not enthusiastic for the album's brand of laid-back roots rock, but it was nevertheless considered an improvement over those albums.

Street Legal è il 18° album in studio di Bob Dylan pubblicato nel giugno del 1978.
Il disco fu un deciso cambio di rotta musicale per Dylan, che utilizzò arrangiamenti maggiormente pop-rock, si avvalse della collaborazione di un nutrito gruppo di coriste e virò decisamente verso la black music. Sin dal titolo, Street Legal è una dichiarazione di intenti: le "street illegal" erano negli anni cinquanta, delle macchinette per il gioco d'azzardo, ma lo "street legal", nel linguaggio di strada, stava a significare un "tipo giusto", un "figo", un "dritto". Inoltre "Street legal" sono anche i motori delle macchine truccati per avere prestazioni migliori, che, dopo aver superato il controllo della sicurezza stradale, diventano leciti e legali.

Desire è il diciassettesimo album in studio di Bob Dylan, pubblicato nel gennaio del 1976. Fu uno degli album di maggior successo del decennio per Dylan.
I testi furono scritti in collaborazione con Jacques Levy, eccetto One More Cup of Coffee (Valley Below) e Sara, brano che Dylan dedicò alla moglie, Sara Lownds, in un estremo tentativo di riconciliazione in un momento in cui il loro matrimonio era in profonda crisi. Questo album, interamente acustico, è considerato da molti cultori della produzione dylaniana un vero e proprio manifesto della canzone politica e di protesta; nei dieci brani che lo compongono, Dylan si scaglia contro la società e, in modo profetico e cadenza quasi biblica, sembra ammonire duramente: fate attenzione, poiché i tempi stanno cambiando e i figli di oggi sono pronti a rivoltarsi contro i loro stessi padri per ribaltare - appunto in maniera biblica - concetti e filosofie, aspettative e pregiudizi.

John Wesley Harding è l'ottavo album in studio di Bob Dylan, pubblicato nel 1967.
Prodotto da Bob Johnston e distribuito il 27 dicembre 1967 per l'etichetta Columbia Records. Il titolo del disco è ispirato alla figura del fuorilegge del selvaggio West John Wesley Hardin (1853–1895).
Segnò il ritorno ufficiale di Dylan a un sound acustico e alle radici tradizionali dopo tre album dominati da un sound elettrico e da modelli rock con testi surreali. Molti studiosi, supportati da commenti dello stesso Dylan, attribuiscono tale cambiamento ad un periodo di introspezione dopo il quasi fatale incidente motociclistico in cui fu coinvolto il cantante il 29 luglio 1966 nei pressi della sua casa di Woodstock.

Blonde on Blonde completed the trilogy of rock albums that Dylan recorded in 1965 and 1966, starting with Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited (both 1965). Critics often rank Blonde on Blonde as one of the greatest albums of all time. Combining the expertise of Nashville session musicians with a modernist literary sensibility, the album's songs have been described as operating on a grand scale musically, while featuring lyrics one critic called "a unique mixture of the visionary and the colloquial". It was one of the first double albums in rock music.
