Taking Chances sold 3.1 million copies worldwide in 2007 alone and peaked inside the top ten in various countries, including number one in Canada, Switzerland, South Africa and on the European Top 100 Albums. It has sold 1.1 million units in the United States and was certified platinum by the RIAA. In Canada, after shipping over 400,000 copies, the album was certified four-times platinum. The first single, "Taking Chances", was released in September 2007 and peaked inside the top ten in various European countries and in Canada. In 2008, different songs were selected as the second single for different regions: "Eyes on Me" in the United Kingdom, "A World to Believe In" in Japan and "Alone" in North America. The latter was also released as the third and final single in the United Kingdom. Sans attendre (transl. "without waiting") is the twenty-fourth studio album and fourteenth French-language album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Columbia Records on 2 November 2012. It is her first new French studio album since 2007's D'elles. Sans attendre features sixteen songs produced mainly by Jacques Veneruso, David Gategno and Scott Price. It contains three duets with Johnny Hallyday, Jean-Pierre Ferland and the late Henri Salvador. The first single from the album, "Parler à mon père" was released on 2 July 2012 and "Le miracle" was selected as the second track to promote Sans attendre.

On 14 September 2012, celinedion.com announced that Dion's new English album titled Water and a Flame will be released in November 2012. However, on 26 September 2012, Sony Music Entertainment decided to postpone the release date of the new English-language album to 2013. In March 2013, René Angélil explained that they decided to delay the release date because the concept of the album has changed.[13] Instead of only half of the disc with original songs, they decided that the majority of the album should be original songs. Angélil stated that initially, the album was supposed to have six covers and six original songs.
