A firm favourite of discerning DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Theo Parrish and Moodymann, the title track Coming To You Live is is a seriously classy slice of soul heaven with layers of funky slap bass, horns and silky smooth vocals from Earland’s wife Sheryl Kendricks - pure dancefloor dynamite! Flip over for the more mellow yet equally gorgeous and soulful ‘I Will Never Tell’ with its beautiful breathy vocals and masterful organ work.

In April 2016 the “Bill Evans Band “ toured Europe in support of his latest release “Rise Above” (May 26th, 2016). The band played to sold out venues across Europe. “Rise Above” is Bill’s most accessible release to date (2016). On this, his 24th solo offering, Evans explores rich and haunting vocals from special guest singers, including legend Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes, JJ Grey, Anders Osborne, Murali Coryell, and Josh Dion. “This recording has been an epic journey. My vision from the beginning was to record and write with some of my favorite singers and record a different song with each one of them. The goal was to still make a cohesive and solid performance out of all this music. It went far beyond my expectations. Sheer pleasure start to finish,” says Evans.

Guitarist and composer Dean Brown has always done things his way. Nowhere is that in greater evidence than on ROLAJAFUFU, his fifth album as a leader. The title is a playful acronym that encompasses rock-Latin-jazz-funk-fusion, the universes Brown explores on this diverse, kinetic recording. Brown’s fiercely independent streak is also exemplified by the fact that this album was funded by his denizens of fans worldwide via PledgeMusic. It’s Brown’s first self-released album, after four celebrated previous discs on the ESC label. He initially embarked on a successful solo career in 2001 after establishing himself as one of the most versatile, first-call virtuoso guitarists in the jazz, rock and funk worlds. Just a few of the global icons he’s worked with include Marcus Miller, The Brecker Brothers, Billy Cobham, David Sanborn, Bob James, George Duke, Roberta Flack, Lenny White, and Joe Zawinul.

Incognito registers its 17th studio CD, In Search of Better Days. Besides the familiar smooth funk beats and riffs, there are a few diversions of contemporary jazz ballads, break beats and jazz rock fusion. And there are plenty of vocalists in Incognito’s cast who bring the better in Better Days. Imaani’s creamy alto oozes a sweet aroma on “Love Born in Flames,” with its swooping backing vocals and precision brass section. The warm tones of Tony Momrelle wrap around “Love's Revival,” a song that beckons back to seventies’ Earth Wind & Fire. Vanessa Haynes pours her heart out on “Just Say Nothing,” another seventies knee-deep-in-funk jam anchored by the clavinet, and “Love Be The Messenger,” punctuated with marching snares by Joao Caetano.

The first single “Goodbye To Yesterday” which will be released digitally on March 30th, features a new addition to Incognito’s line-up. German-born singer/songwriter Mo Brandis convinces with his warm and soulful voice. Legendary rock torchbearers Gov’t Mule will release a new archival album entitled The Tel-Star Sessions on August 5, 2016 via Provogue/Mascot Label Group. The album consists of the band’s very first, and never-before-released, demos made in June 1994 at Tel-Star Studios in Bradenton, Florida. These newly mixed and mastered recordings feature the original line-up – Warren Haynes, Allen Woody and Matt Abts – and capture the rawness and excitement of the earliest days of Gov’t Mule. What was originally intended to be the band’s debut album, but then subsequently shelved until now, these 10 songs will be available digitally and as a single CD, as well as 180-gram double-vinyl set including a limited edition version with different artwork and splatter vinyl.

On New Year s Day 2015, the music world mourned the death of Jeff Golub. After suffering the loss of his eyesight 3 years earlier, Jeff was diagnosed with PSP, a rare brain disease which rapidly debilitated his entire body and ultimately robbed him of the ability to play guitar. Knowing that Jeff s playing days were over, three of his closest friends and musical collaborators, Steven Miller, Rick Braun and Bud Harner dug deep into the Golub vault and uncovered some rare gems - radically different versions of some of Jeff s early tunes along with 2 songs that were never released. From there, Jeff handpicked a number of musical friends to add to the recordings and give each song a modern twist and unique flavor. The Vault was completed just days before Jeff s death and provides a passionate and soulful overview of one of the music community s most beloved figures.

Saxophonist Kirk Whalum will release Romance Language, a song-for-song remake of the classic 1963 collaboration between John Coltrane and singer Johnny Hartman. The album, which features Kirk’s brother Kevin Whalum on vocals, consists of six romantic standards composed by such greats as Irving Berlin, Sammy Cahn, Billy Strayhorn and Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. The album will be released by Rendezvous Music on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

BWB (Brown, Whalum, and Braun) are nothing short of a musical force to be reckoned with. When three of smooth jazz’s crème de la crème collaborate together as a super group – Norman Brown on guitar, Kirk Whalum on saxophone, and Rick Braun on trumpet – the end results are nothing short of celestial. BWB marks just the third collaboration of the three for a studio album, following Groovin’ in 2002 and the Michael Jackson covers album, Human Nature in 2013. Like their splendid work of the past, BWB is another terrific set of songs that plays to the strengths of its prodigious personnel, with prodigious being the key word!

This album was made with that spirit in mind…an abundance of love and joy went into every single note. For me, making it was like hosting the best holiday party ever! I invited some wonderfully talented friends over…we ate, we drank, we reminisced, and then we retired to the living room, sat around the piano, and sang some songs—first, each duet partner and me; then before the party was over, we all came together for one last song: the Beatles gem “All You Need Is Love.” Though not a Christmas song, it truly holds the message of the holidays (and really, of life) for me.
