The Beatles' catalog is full of sturdy, melodic songs that are so well-written and crafted that they are amazingly adaptable, capable of being played and sung in a variety of styles, from polka version to baroque chamber style and seemingly every stop in between. This bright, soothing set collects several Beatle classics done in bossa nova style, and yes, the songs hold up well, particularly Monique Kessous’ surprisingly effective cover of “Come Together,” Lulu Joppert’s breezy “Got to Get You into My Life,” Tanta Menezes’ jaunty “Day Tripper,” and a lush and jazzy take on “Ticket to Ride” from Taryn Szpilman.

Chain Of Days is a “chain” of 11 songs with no genre-boundaries, carefully put together with a focus on melody. There is a touch of folk, pop, jazz, Norwegian folk-music, country and blues, but all of the songs have Silje Nergaard’s recognizable and distinct signature.

Bob Corritore is one of the most prolific recording artists on the scene today, continuing to receive world-wide recognition. The versatile harp player grew up in Chicagoland and cut his blues teeth by frequenting clubs on the South and West Sides where he learned his craft from the greats. He has since relocated to Phoenix, AZ where he is a club owner (The Rhythm Room), radio DJ, award-winning record producer and more. He often tours the world, accompanying other blues artists, to play prestigious festivals and clubs. Taboo presents a variety of Chicago Blues styles, including the show-stealer title track. “Taboo” was not written as a12 bar blues standard, and instead has a haunting Latino-Brazilian feel. Corritore also takes you from catchy struts and ‘50s grooves, to big band swings, and low-down Chicago Blues.

Time and the River is David Sanborn's 25th studio date, marking his 40th anniversary as a leader. Though released by Sony Okeh imprint, he funded it with a Pledgemusic drive. Befitting of such an occasion, he reunites with bassist and producer Marcus Miller. Though they haven't worked as a team on a record in over 15 years, they've netted five previous Grammys and seven Gold Records.
