A new box set featuring classic live sets by Frank Sinatra performed in London. Universal Muisc Enterprises have worked with Frank Sinatra Enterprises to create the appropriately titled London which focuses on projects from between 1953 and 1984, bringing to light more than 50 previously unreleased tracks. Recorded over three consecutive nights at London's CTS Studios, Great Songs From Great Britain would be the only album Sinatra would ever record outside of the United States.

Pianist, composer and producer Meeco alias Michael Maier delivers his fourth album with Souvenirs of Love offering a "collection of love songs that tell my life" story as the artist states, through a range of R & B, intimate jazz ballads and a touch of the hip-hop influence provided in a tasteful elegant platform. Not a conservative musician by any stretch, Meeco is used to doing things big, out of the norm and striking a new approach. On this venture, Meeco does it again designing a musical statement with new innovations. Here, he presents the music through the prism of jazz using an all-star list of jazz and soul musicians to document, what is, essentially, a classic R&B vocals recording.

German label ACT has now been in existence for some twenty years or so and this double CD set celebrates the sheer diversity of the musicians on its roster with particular reference to duet performances which is a novel way in which to showcase the products on offer.

They’ve developed into a dynamic musical tour de force, with Joe's flame-throwing guitar work complemented by Bnois' cool, jazz-inflected playing and soulful vocals. Their incendiary live shows feature two top flight guitarists intuitively locked in with each other and backed by a firepower rhythm section, making for a powerful and irresistible combination.

The poignant final album from revered trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, who died on 8 September, Songs For Quintet is set for release on ECM Records on 12 January 2015 – just in time for what would have been his 85th birthday on 14 January.

The songs cover the entire decade, from 1970 to 1979. Excellent compilation of jazz tunes that seem relatively rare. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of compilations of jazz songs performed in the '50s, and that makes sense since this was the peak for the genre before rock came on the scene. But this '70s compilation CD has great tunes, so it's doubly refreshing, not just for the time period, but also for the quality of the songs.

This is yet another abstract jazz CD that one must thank all the gods and goddesses was executed in trio format because the addition of even one more player would've ruined the odd, fascinating, and mercurial idiosyncracies running through the repertoire. On his last CD, Sivan's debut, critics lauded him as "the next guitarist of our times" and someone who would "transform the jazz guitar world" because he's an "intense" cat. He's none of that, is in fact so cool that I'm often reminded, when he's in lay-out mode, of a combination of Chet Baker's singing and Gabor Szabo's playing. When not lyrical and balladic, Rotem's carrying on the far too underpopulated persuasion of aspects of old Coryell, Abercrombie, farside Martino, sideways Metheny, and similar axehandlers, John Stowell included.
