Экспериментальный дет с элементами джаза, рока и ещё-хрен-его-разберет чего – первый шаг Дана Свано в этом направлении. Dawn of dreams стоит особняком от детового стрима начала 90-ых, но все же не настолько авангардный, как его потомки, Khaoohs и Khaooohs & Kon-Fus-Ion. Альбом довольно техничный, но без излишних выкрутасов, имеющих свойство быстро приедаться. Присутствует клавишная работа, различные эффекты околокосмического толка и саксофон.Сильный, качественный, экспериментальный, просто невероятный альбом. Лирика фактически отсутствует - до сих пор не уловила ни одного членораздельно пропетого слова, только глухое рычание. Но это даже к месту, такая музыка не нуждается в словах. Просто необходимо в срочном порядке достать все остальные работы группы... Неописуемое чувство... И вам того-же желаю.

Всегда приятно, когда молодой коллектив, только что записавший альбом и мало кому известный на сцене, дает “пинка под зад” признанным флагманам жанра и сразу же впрыгивает в последний вагон, и занимает одно из вакантных мест в составе лидеров направления. Отдавая дань гуру мелодик дэта в лице At The Gates, Pain Confessor не зацикливается на тупом подражании, а методично развивает идеи шведов. Но не At The Gates главное направление для этих финнов, а другие революционеры жанра – Soilwork. И опять Pain Confessor нельзя назвать примитивными копировщиками, они просто работают в этом направлении и делают это очень хорошо, а порой проскальзывающие куски а-ля Kreator только добавляют команде энергетики и драйва, который начинает зашкаливать за мысленно выставленные рамки уже ко второй композиции.

Альбом просто стносит крышу, это правда. Да, конечно, с гитарами не всё так классно - они создают всего лишь какой-то отдалённый шумящий фон, временами мешающий прослушивания песни! Да и сами гитарные рифы на рифы-то не походят....
Но эксперимент смелый, такие надо поощерять.По ходу альбома музыка колеблется между тяжёлым металическим и индастриальным звучанием ("Dark Fields Of pain", например, так же "Parallel To Extasy", "Suicide machine")и техно, трансом и прочими производными от этих стилей("She Wipped", "Delusions" ) но с гитарным "фоном". В целом получается этакий техно-метал, от которого и происходит эффект "Сшибания крыши"!

По словам Петера, на новом альбоме он продолжает “с того места, на котором остановились PAIN и LINDEMANN”, при этом результат получился “более экспериментальным, чем все, что я делал раньше”. “Акустические гитары, снова помощь от Клеменса (Clemens Wijers) из CARACH ANGREN с оркестровыми аранжировками, а еще кое-какой гостевой вокал”, - рассказывает он. – “Ну а Себастьян Тагтгрен (Sebastian Tägtgren, сын Петера) проделал отличную работу на ударных...".

Атмосферный блэк с языческим уклоном. Гипнотическая трансляция видений хаоса, несчастий, смерти, войны. Яркая и интересная вещь.

Альбом уникален. Притом по нескольким причинам. Во-первых, этот альбом записан воссоединенной группой, вокалист и автор песен Роб Хэлфорд вернулся в родные пенаты. Во-вторых, этот альбом квинтэссенция всех прошлых альбомов группы. Гитары сильны как никогда, вокал все еще может многое несмотря на возраст. Качество записи просто идеально. Возвращение по полной программе. В каждой песне есть отсылка к прошлому творчеству группы. Отсылка в виде названия песни или альбома, напоминание о том времени и так сказать дополнение пропущенных моментов.

U.D.O. has been on a hot streak lately, ever since the early 2000's band ran out of steam with "Rev Raptor" and "Dominator" he reshuffled the deck and got some new players in, it reinvigorated the band. How this man can still churn out such consistantly good Heavy Metal music is a wonder. Hot on the heels of the excellent "Steelfactory" and "We Are One" comes this embarrassment of riches, yes, it runs for more than an hour but after about three listens you realise there is no fat here, every track deserves it's place. There is a strong 80's Accept feel to this album but I enjoy U.D.O. better than the current Accept as it is a lot more fun and his voice sounds fantastic here, as good as it ever was.

This is now the third release from Serious Black that I have reviewed within the pages of manofmuchmetal.com and it is safe to say that the results have been rather varied. 2017’s ‘Magic’ scored highly, as it delivered a very positive and enjoyable slab of melodic heavy metal. ‘Suite 226’, their 2020 offering didn’t hit the same level in my opinion and was ultimately rather disappointing. Always one to maintain an air of optimism, I refused to just turn my back on the band. Instead, I have checked out their sixth full-length release, ‘Vengeance Is Mine’, and have decided to bring you my thoughts on it subsequently.

И чем дальше это продолжается, тем больше протагонист скатывается в свой личный ад, с обширной паранойей и приступами паники.

I do enjoy short albums I can have easily in one sitting (you could literally watch a movie in the length of time it takes to spin the new Nightwish, for fuck’s sake), and so this is a nice record to consume on a quick walk. It helps that all the songs are of a high quality, and as this is probably the most Serious Black have leaned on the up-tempo power metal aspects of their sound, I’ve been spinning it a fair bit. Urban Breed sounds much better here than he did on ‘Suite 226’, more like his old Tad Morose self but a bit softer, as fitting for the material, which is generally very melodic, keyboardy power metal that functions as a run through conventions set out by Edguy, Helloween, and Stratovarius, with a tip of the hat towards old Queensryche. After a pointless symphonic intro (didn’t these go out of fashion fifteen years ago?) we launch into ‘As Long As I’m Alive’, a killer double kicker with a great verse and invigorating chorus, straight into one of Serious Black’s best tunes, the mighty ‘Castor Skies’. This one has plenty of harpsichord runs and snappy riffing before hitting the absolutely stellar chorus, probably my favorite moment on the whole disc. ‘Heartbroken Soul’ ends the trio of slick opening cuts, another highlight with a downhearted lyric and some nice melodic play.
