Either the mid-'70s or the addition of Ted Turner's replacement, Laurie Wisefield, brought about a severe identity crisis for Wishbone Ash. No longer were they the self-conscious band that evolved from their blues-based debut to their prog precursor Pilgrimage to their progressive tour de force Argus. While Wishbone Ash was still a guitar-oriented band, Locked In provided no originality and, save for a guitar refrain in "Rest in Peace," no memorable passages whatsoever. While his credentials are impressive, producer Tom Dowd was not the man for the job. He was much better suited as a producer of Southern rock, jazz, and R&B acts. Again, Wishbone Ash suffered from inadequate lead vocals, but that wasn't as serious a problem as their atrocious songwriting. Locked In is the album that clearly signified the downfall of this immensely talented and promise-filled band. They never seemed to recover, both from a creative and popularity standpoint, from the abyss they fell into upon the release of Locked In.

Wishbone Four is the fourth studio album by British rock band Wishbone Ash, released in 1973. It was a departure from their previous album, Argus, in that it lacked that recording's overall cohesion and atmosphere and the loose conceptual framework of a stately, pastoral and warring medieval England.

The soft, soothing sound of William Topley's voice has lulled me to a peaceful place many a time, and on his latest record, Sea Fever, Topley's voice continues to do just that. This record finds Topley purveying the same kind of casual blues that his fans have come to expect, but he changes things up a bit, creating more bright tones in some of the songs than he has previously. "High On The Rhythm" is a perfect example of this phenomenon.

Louella Deville of PlanetMosh gave the album five out of five stars, describing it as "a stunning tribute to keep Frankie’s music alive." She drew vocal comparisons between Spike and Rod Stewart, saying "if I hadn't known it was Spike I may have thought Rod was collaborating with them." She also noted Spike's duet with Bonnie Tyler, describing her voice as the female equivalent of Spike's. "It’s difficult to tell in places which was Spike singing and which was Bonnie. I doubt even Spike’s own mother could tell them apart!"
