Owl City’s fifth full-length album, Mobile Orchestra [release date: July 10] is the follow-up to 2012’s Midsummer Station. An album which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 and featured the double-platinum duet with Carly Rae Jepsen, “Good Time.”

Royal Hunt´s 13th studio album – Devil´s Dozen – stays very true to the original, larger-than-life Royal Hunt sound: with imaginative instrumentation, intricate arrangements, soaring vocals and catchy, massive choruses. Yet the addition of classical musicians/instruments and contemporary, modern day production elements twist the outcome into a unique sonic palette.The band holds tight to the format which defined rock – an album chockfull of carefully crafted songs, recorded and mixed by a team of professionals who know how to combine crystal clear sonics with a weighty punch. Fortunately, the unique atmosphere which drew me to the debut, is carried through here, and explored further. The personal lyrics, laced with self-doubt, possess a deep sense of melancholy and fully bloom when Timo Kotipelto, of Stratovarius fame, belts them out with an impressive amount of passion. Passion is really what makes the music work, as it is all-embracing and completely convincing. I find that the whole album emits a radiance of melancholy, deep and soulful.

The second full-length release for the British singer-songwriter was influenced by her Jamaican and Greek heritage and features production from Paul Epworth, Matt Hales, Jamie Lidell, and Stephen McGregor.

Heather Powell definitely has flawless vocal technique, as she more than likely has been classically trained. She has the ability to project to the back of the house with pitch-perfect accuracy, a skill only seen in well-trained opera and musical theatre singers. An unfortunate side effect of this level of skill is that the emotional projection can be sacrificed in favor of technique. This is the case with most of the songs on "A Haze of Grays and Blue", though it is clear with her lyrics that there is something very emotional and personal Powell wanted to connote.

Rick Braun is a smooth jazz trumpet player, multi-instrumentalist and often producer. Braun, like fellow contemporary jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, has always managed to turn what could be a disadvantage for his chosen instrument into a virtue. That trend continues on Can You Feel It, Braun’s 16th studio album. While contemporary jazz saxophonists sometimes dominate the musical conversation, Braun’s reputation as a collaborator – take note of his work with Boney James, as well as his projects with Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown in the band BWB and with Richard Elliot in duo RnR. He continues to play well with others on Can You Feel It, tapping an all-star lineup of musicians that includes Euge Groove, Brian Culbertson, Elliott Yamin and Jeff Lorber.

На “Dic.Nii.Lan.Daft.Erd.Ark” датчане, в предшествующие 10 лет не раз удивлявшие публику – то балладным “Soft Dogs” (2002), то танцевальным “Monster Philosophy” (2008), снова обратились к полноценному рок-звучанию, которое всегда им удавалось. Однако не ждите от альбома бесшабашных боевиков на стыке Poison и AC/DC, которыми славилась вышеупомянутая классика – “Dic.Nii.Lan.Daft.Erd.Ark” вышел очень продуманным и где-то даже взрослым. И несмотря на иронию, насквозь пронизывающую практически все тексты альбома, посвящены они достаточно серьезным вещам – пусть не кризису, но как минимум мироощущению среднего возраста.

В ноябре 2008 года группа выпустила новый, десятый по счету альбом Monster Philosophy. И опять удивила поклонников. Многие признавались, что ожидали чего угодно, но не того, что им пришлось услышать. На новой пластинке музыканты совместили старый-добрый rock с современными танцевальными тенденциями, и в результате получилось, по их собственному определению, "black disco", утяжеленные танцевальные композиции, которые замечательно идут на концертах.

Альбом Scare Yourself гораздо более жесткий своего предшественника. По свидетельству самих музыкантов, они хотели как-то компенсировать разочарование поклонников группы, которые ожидали от Soft Dogs привычного драйва, поэтому Scare Yourself стал классическим роковым альбомом, бодрым и мелодичным, как и все, что делает DAD.

В 2002 году выходит Soft Dogs - удивительно мягкий и лиричный альбом, полный песен о любви. Вообще, для группы это редкость, потому что они всегда избегали любовной лирики в своем творчестве. И, хотя поклонники группы сначала приняли его прохладно, он тем не менее стал одним из самых успешных альбомов за всю карьеру DAD.
