All tracks were recorded during AC/DC's 1990-1991 Word Tour that covered twenty-one countries and one hundred and fifty-three shows. Live recordings were provided by the manor mobile, engineered by will shapland and assisted by Dave Porter; and by the plant mobile services, engineered by Bob Skye and assisted by Chris Charucki and Sean O'Brien.

High Voltage was edited firstly in Australia in 1975 and later for the rest of the world but only containing two songs from the Aussie original tracklist and refilling with songs from their second album: T.N.T. This is the Japanese edition with the "international" tracklist.

This was also the final studio album to feature drummer Simon Wright. Although he wrote all the lyrics on the album, it would be the last on which Brian Johnson was credited as a songwriter (all songs on subsequent albums were written by the Young brothers).
