XIV Dark Centuries на втором полноформатнике полностью справились с задачей, начисто проваленной на первой работе. Германский воинственный дух предельно ясно ощутим здесь, в каждом яростном вопле или гордом запеве, в варварских риффах и разливистой песне флейты… Далеко не у всех, кто стремится воплотить в музыку атмосферу языческой романтики, это получается так ясно. Испив Мёда Вдохновенья из одного источника с Bergthron, Saxorior и Menhir, XIV Dark Centuries встали в первом ряду этого могучего воинства, несущего соратникам высокий полёт Духа и смерть всякому врагу. И молодым музыкантам, желающим достичь подобных высот, будет чему поучиться на альбоме "Skithingi".

У группы Rush есть одна очень интересная и правильная традиция. Каждый раз после выпуска четырех студийных альбомов, следом за ними на прилавки музыкальных магазинов ложится свежий концертник. По-моему, это очень замечательная и интересная находка! У поклонников всегда есть возможность убедиться, в какой форме группа находится в данный момент, и как звучат песни с недавних альбомов "в живую". Кроме того, так уж сложились обстоятельства, что каждым концертником Rush как бы закрывают очередную главу своего творчества. Вот и сейчас - позади осталась "первая эра", период увлечения хард роком и вообще, тяжелым звучанием. Дальше последует постепенное усложнение музыки, но это все темы для следующих рецензий.

Открывается она забойнейшей 'See Me Burning', дающей в который раз понять, что Motorhead все еще даст прикурить кому угодно, а дядька даже и не помышляет об уходе на пенсию, несмотря на свой солидный алкогольно-рок'н'ролльный стаж. Their self-titled debut album released in 1982, remains their best-selling album and went to number one in several countries. Billboard listed it as the top album in the U.S. in 1982. The lead single from the album, "Heat of the Moment", remains their top charting and best-known song, reaching the top 40 in over a dozen markets. It peaked at #4 in the U.S. on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Aufgrund der Vermittlung ihres A&R-Repräsentanten John Kalodner hatte die neu gegründete Plattenfirma David Geffens die Band bereits unter Vertrag genommen, bevor Geffen überhaupt eine einzige Note der neuen Stücke gehört hatte. Die Arbeiten am Debütalbum begannen daher schon sehr bald, im Sommer 1981. Die Band nutzte die Londoner Townhouse Studios und die Marcus Studios. Von Anfang an war allen Beteiligten klar, dass man trotz der Vergangenheit der Musiker, die alle bei namhaften Progressive-Rock-Bands (Yes, ELP, King Crimson, UK) gespielt hatten, kein Album in diesem Stil machen wollte. Kürzere, konzisere Lieder und ein einheitlicher, geschlossener Bandsound sollten den radiotauglichen Stil der neuen Band charakterisieren.

Nach einem Versuch, bei der französischen Band Atoll einzusteigen, mit der er drei Nummern, darunter der spätere Asia-Titel Here Comes the Feeling, eingespielt hatte, ging John Wetton auf Anregung seines Managers Brian Lane mit Steve Howe ins Studio, um gemeinsam einige Lieder aufzunehmen. Als Schlagzeuger der neuen Band wurde Carl Palmer engagiert. Geoffrey Downes, der in Folge ein beständiger Autorpartner Wettons wurde, stieß als letzter zur Formation.

Asia's logo and cover artwork were created by Roger Dean, known for his work with Yes (of which guitarist Steve Howe and keyboard player Geoff Downes were previous members) and Uriah Heep (of which bassist/vocalist John Wetton had previously been a member). The debut album's art depicts a sea serpent gazing into a crystal orb.

Started in 1984, it marked the return of Wetton to the group after his firing in September 1983. He had been replaced by Emerson, Lake & Palmer co-founder Greg Lake, temporarily, for the concerts at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo in December 1983. The opening night of these shows, highly advertised as Asia in Asia, was the first in the history of MTV to be broadcast via satellite transmission. Following a two-month stint, Lake had left Asia and soon Wetton had been convinced to come back. The latter agreed, but made it a condition to his return that Howe depart the line-up. By the time sessions for Astra began, the group had recruited Meyer, a former guitarist of the Swiss hard rock band Krokus.

Alpha is the second studio album by British rock supergroup Asia, released on 12 August 1983 by Geffen Records. It was recorded at Le Studio in Morin-Heights, Quebec, and Manta Sound in Toronto from February to May 1983. Alpha adopted a notably more polished sound with radio-friendly elements and less emphasis on progressive rock sections. Like its multi-platinum predecessor, the album was produced by Mike Stone. It was also the last album to feature the band's original line-up for twenty-five years until Phoenix, which was released in 2008.

Triumph and Agony is the fourth and final studio album by the German heavy metal band Warlock, released on 29 September 1987.
The album was recorded in the US with producer Joey Balin and a different band line-up in comparison with the previous album True as Steel, which had made the name of Warlock known outside of Europe. Peter Szigeti and Frank Rittel were replaced in 1987 by the American musicians Tommy Bolan and Tommy Henriksen respectively. The album also features British drummer Cozy Powell on some tracks.

Belinda Jo Carlisle - is an American singer and songwriter. She gained fame as the lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, one of the most successful all-female rock bands of all time, and went on to have a prolific career as a solo artist.
Raised in Southern California, Carlisle was the lead vocalist of the Go-Go's, which she co-founded in 1978. With their chart-topping debut studio album Beauty and the Beat in 1981, the group helped popularize new wave music in the United States. The Go-Go's have sold over seven million records worldwide.

Запоминающиеся мелодии чередуются здесь с агрессивными кусками, тем самым не давая слушателю заскучать ни на секунду. Не каждый день встречаешь материал, который держит тебя в состоянии заинтересованности на протяжении всей длительности, и который хочется переслушивать еще и еще раз.
