Veteran producer Tony Watts was behind this budget collection of George Formby's work, mostly from the 1930s -- which represented Formby's prime -- and the quality shows, in the good-quality transfers as well as a decent essay/overview of Formby's career. The selection is a good one, touching all of the expected bases ("The Window Cleaner," etc.), all astonishingly catchy novelty and music hall tunes, mostly with a double-entendre element.

Following their 1991 We Can't Dance tour, Genesis released two live albums - Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume One: The Shorts and Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume Two: The Longs. While The Longs was aimed more at the long-term progressive fans, The Shorts was geared more toward the newer 'singles' fans.
I fit into the Longs category. Despite having great live versions of songs such as "No Son of Mine", "Mama", and "Hold on my Heart", this just doesn't do anything for me. I can pretty much do without the Invisible Touch tracks, and there's little of necessity to tracks such as "I Can't Dance" and "That's All". But i'll cut my losses now while i'm ahead. It is, after all, The Shorts, and if i didn't want to hear the shorts, i'd put in The Longs instead, no? Which i will do 10 times out of 10... all the reason i needed to part with this.
Fairly smart move, though... one live CD for the Invisible Touch Club, another for the progheads, and neither has to be bogged down by the 'other' Genesis.

Recording and performing together since the late '70s, Gene Bertoncini and Michael Moore once more undertake the daunting task of making a guitar-bass duet session attractive to listeners without being boring or maudlin. Like their earlier efforts, Two in Time successfully fills the bill. The interesting play list, with a balanced mix of slow and up-tempo tunes, contributes much to making this a satisfying session. The medley of "The Bad and the Beautiful" and "Laura," with most of the players' attention given to the latter, is intriguing in the way that it segues back and forth between Moore's dark, brooding bowing on "Laura" and Bertoncini's upbeat guitar. Moore also bows on "You've Changed" which is a highlight of his introspective but very lyrical approach to the music.

Out in the Fields: The Very Best of Gary Moore is a compilation album by Gary Moore. Released in 1998, the album encompasses a part of Moore's immense career from 1982 to 1992, focusing predominantly on the hard rock albums Moore released during that period. As well as the regular 1-disc version, a 2-CD limited edition was also released; the second disc contains several live and studio B-sides, a non-album single and a single remix.

The Glitter Band are a glam rock band from England, who initially worked as Gary Glitter's backing band under that name from 1973, when they then began releasing records of their own. They were unofficially known as the Glittermen on the first four hit singles by Gary Glitter from 1972 to 1973.
The Glitter Band had seven UK Top 20 hit singles in the mid-1970s, and three hit albums. Pete Phipps and John Springate are still currently touring with The Glitter Band. John Rossall and Harvey Ellison tour under their own names.

Barcelona is the second solo album recorded by Freddie Mercury, frontman of popular British rock band Queen, and operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé. Released in 1988. It is the second and final solo album recorded by Mercury.
After Barcelona was selected to host the 1992 Summer Olympics, Mercury was approached to write a song as a theme for the forthcoming games. The idea was to create a duet with Caballé, as she is from the city. He had been a long-standing admirer of her and she in turn grew to respect his talents very highly. They decided to work on an album together, with Mercury and Mike Moran taking the creative lead as songwriters. Mercury and Moran made and sent her tapes of the music with Mercury singing in falsetto as a guide vocal for Montserrat's parts. As they rarely had an opening in their schedule to meet, her parts were recorded at another location.

"Rise" is a single by Gabrielle. It was her second number one single in the UK Singles Chart. The song was the title-track and second single from her third studio album.
Written by Gabrielle, Ollie Dagois and Ferdy Unger-Hamilton and produced by Jonny Dollar, the song reached number one on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks in January 2000.

Frida ensam (English: Frida Alone) is the second studio album by Swedish singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad. It was produced by her fiancé, Benny Andersson, both members of the pop group ABBA, and was first released by Polar Music in 1975. It has since been re-released several times, most significantly in remastered form in 2005 with bonus tracks. The lead song was Frida's solo version of "Fernando" (written and produced by Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus). All lyrics are in Swedish. The album was a huge success in Sweden, and Lyngstad was awarded with a platinum disc.

Franz Ferdinand is the debut studio album by Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand, first released on 9 February 2004 through the Domino Recording Company. It was recorded during 2003 at Gula Studios in Malmö, Sweden, with Tore Johansson, who produced the majority of the album, with two tracks produced by the band themselves. The Colour and the Shape is the second studio album by the American rock band Foo Fighters. Produced by Gil Norton, it was released through Capitol Records and the group's own Roswell Records on May 20, 1997. The record is the debut of the Foo Fighters as a group, as the band's previous record, Foo Fighters (1995), was primarily recorded by frontman Dave Grohl and friend Barrett Jones as a demo. After the project ballooned and became an international success, the group convened for pre-production in the fall of 1996 and brought in producer Norton to establish a pop sensibility for the tracks. The band strived to create a full-fledged rock record, although the music press predicted another grunge offshoot.

The Dance is a live album by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on 19 August 1997. It hailed the return of the band's most successful line-up of Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Stevie Nicks, who had not released an album together since 1987's Tango in the Night a decade earlier.
