“Constantinople”, from 1998’s Modern Cool, is the most extreme example. Over a shifting Middle Eastern groove fueled by Mark Walker’s percussion work, Barber keens wordlessly and then gives trumpeter Dave Douglas several beautiful minutes to vamp in Sketches of Spain style; when she comes back in, long vocal lines punctuated by staccato guitar work by John McLean, it’s so haunting and perfect that you forget that she doesn’t actually play piano at all on the track.

When Café Blue was released by Premonition Records in 1994, two things happened. There are some very interesting purely instrumental tracks on this album, especially the hard driving McCoy Tyner-ish "Subway Station No. 5," the impressionistic "Parts Parallels," and "Yet Another in a Long Series of Yellow Car" which has a Joe Zawinul/Weather Report feel to it.

Unorthodox Jukebox is the second studio album by American recording artist Bruno Mars. Мои любимые композиции - "Gutted", "Living Dissection", "Butchered At Birth", "Innards Decay", впрочем, бессмысленно перечислять - все отличные. И на протяжении всего альбома так и хочется побесноваться и помахать хаером, что я с удовольствием и делаю.

А на мой взгляд, это отличный альбом новых Amorphis... ну, новых на тот момент. Налицо отход от "рубилова" и "жестилова", которое еще было на предыдущих творениях группы, и постепенный уход в мелодизм и лиричность, которая так свойственна им сейчас. А все началось с альбома 1996-го "Elegy" и логически продолжилось на этом миньоне. А что? Ребята просто решили выдать на-гора релиз спокойных и лиричных песен. И они имели на это право: даже самые тру-металхэды иногда могут позволить себе отдохнуть.

Я так полагаю, что главной отличительной чертой визуальной подачи Carnal Decay является наличие в составе симпатишной девчушки по имени Изабель Итен.Похоже, что в швейцарском андеграунде считается хорошим тоном завербовать к себе в ансамбль кого-нибудь из представительниц слабого пола – вспомним хотя бы Наташу из Amagortis.

Здесь же на лицо полная перемена стиля и надо сказать парни в грязь лицом не ударили и показали себя в новом амплуа просто угарно. Потрясающая мистическая атмосфера этого альбома в сочетании с брутальностью отдельных композиций оставляют неизгладимые впечатления. Особенно мне пришлось по вкусу что композиции выдержанны в одной концепции, которая реализована не только з асчет текстов песен, но и самого музыкального материала. В целом я небольшой ценитель подобного жанра, но от данной работы буквально захватывает дух. Ничего подобного раньше мне слышать не доводилось. На мой взгляд, парни взяли самые лучшие ингредиенты разных стилей и смешали в единое блюдо. Что ж... эксперимент удался.
