Blue Chip is the third album by Acoustic Alchemy, released under the MCA Master Series label in 1989, and again under GRP in 1996.
The album presented an experiment with pop music in the band's signature style, using strong, memorable melody lines.
The most successful track here is "Catalina Kiss", the album opener and a longstanding live favourite. Using a shuffle rhythm, the track calls upon the saxophone for embellishments, whilst tonal harmonies between the two guitars evoke a strong melody. JazzTrax presenter Art Good suggested that the track was inspired by an appearance by the band at the 1988 Catalina Island Jazz Festival.

Natural Elements was the second major label release by Acoustic Alchemy from 1988.
The shortest of all of the band's albums, only comprising eight tracks, Natural Elements set out to show what the title suggests: the organic side to Acoustic Alchemy's music.
Points to note from this album include the title track, Natural Elements, which became the theme tune to long-running BBC gardening show, Gardener's World, and the re-recording of an early track, "Casino", now re-arranged to include piano and full percussion parts.

The track "Ya Tebya Lubliu" was so named after the Russian phrase for "I Love You" perhaps as a tribute to Charles Bronson's character in the Great Escape.

The Beautiful Game was the tenth full-length album by Acoustic Alchemy, and marked a turning point in the career of guitarist Greg Carmichael.
This album was the first without founding member Nick Webb, who had died two years previously due to pancreatic cancer; duties on steel string guitar were now filled by understudy Miles Gilderdale, who remains in the post to this day.
The album came as a stark change to fans of the group. Glossy production and radically different songwriting brought about a new 21st century sound, completely adverse to the style built up over a decade and a half up until this point.

The story of Acoustic Alchemy has always been about innovation and adaptability. In the nearly 25 years since their first recording, the UK-based group has crafted a sound that maximizes the potential of not only the acoustic guitar but also its electric counterpart - and in so doing they've explored the subtle corners where jazz, pop, world music and other genres intersect. Along the way - with the help of a massive worldwide following created by consistent touring - they've weathered personal setbacks, dramatic shifts in musical trends, and in recent years, sweeping changes in the music industry. The next step in this ongoing journey is Roseland, their new recording set for release on September 27, 2011.

This is an exceptional Acoustic Alchemy album. Their body of studio work is great. I've been following them from the start, and I've enjoyed the evolution of their sound album to album. Seeing them live is always a joy, usually as a 5 piece - 2 guitars, keyboards, bass and drums with the occasional guest on saxophone or trumpet. This live album was recorded in London with the latest incarnation of the group (and no guest). It must have been recorded at the Pizza Express, Dean Street, but the album notes don't say that. That's the only London venue that I know they've played in the last few years. I've seen them there and at The Stables, but not last year or this. Listening to this album that's now a big regret, but this makes up for it big time. The live setting allows them to relax and stretch out the arrangements. There is an extra energy and immediacy to their interplay that is really difficult to recreate in the studio, and this recording captures that live essence perfectly.
