Since the release date for “Flesh & Blood” was pushed back, Rhido decided to fill the gap with something really special. “Unzipped” is a box set that includes the acoustic sessions by Whitesnake (meaning those of Coverdale with Vandenberg and later on with Aldrich) from 1997 up to 2015. “Unzipped” comes in a regular and deluxe CD edition plus a double vinyl. But right now we will focus on the beautiful box set. I must be clear right from the start that you won’t find yourself listening on a constant basis this bunch of songs. These are some acoustic versions –mainly vocals and a guitar- and most songs can be found numerous times as the box set depicts various live performances almost in back to back days. Naturally, we are treated with the same songs so this is a box set aimed towards the die hard fan and collector.

Lisa-Marie Ferla of The Arts Desk wrote that The Devil in Me "bursts out of the gate with a title track and string of songs that place it in the same lineage as her 1970s glam rock catalogue, all chugging bass and snarling vocals", before the pace changes after track five, and concluding "Suzi Quatro at 70 is a long way from done". Julian Marszalek of Classic Rock stated that "if her latest album The Devil in Me proves anything it's that you can take Suzi Quatro out of Detroit, but you'll never take Detroit out of Suzi" as the tracks make "considerable nods to her roots and inspirations". Marszalek summarized that "if the devil does have the best tunes, then Suzi Quatro is grabbing enough of them here". Will Russell of Hot Press felt that "Quatro and her trusty bass are in excellent form" and the album "is a most valuable addition to her canon".

Def Leppard are one of the biggest bands in the world to avoid releasing an official live album (not counting their ‘In The Round…‘ concert video) until well into their fourth decade as a band. Since then, they seem to want to catch up to bands like Foreigner and Styx in terms of live output.

Starting with Mirrorball in 2011, the band has released four live albums, not counting the live material that accompanied re-releases of the excellent ‘Pyromania Deluxe Edition‘ and the ‘Early Years 79-81‘ box set. They had just released ‘One Night Only: Live at the Leadmill‘ last year (review here). All this is to say we have well entered cash grab territory.

Lennon recorded the album from early to mid-1971 at his Ascot Sound Studios, EMI Recording Studios and the Record Plant in New York City, with musicians that included his ex-Beatles bandmate George Harrison, keyboardist Nicky Hopkins, bassist Klaus Voormann and drummers Alan White and Jim Keltner. The lyrics reflect peace, love, politics, Lennon's experience with primal scream therapy and, following a period of high personal tensions, an attack on his former writing partner Paul McCartney in "How Do You Sleep?". Extensive footage from the sessions was recorded for a scrapped documentary; parts were released on the documentary film Imagine: John Lennon (1988). The documentary John & Yoko: Above Us Only Sky, based on that footage, was released in 2018.

Co-produced by Lennon, Ono and Phil Spector, it followed Lennon's recording of three experimental releases with Ono and a live album from the 1969 version of the Plastic Ono Band. John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band contains a largely raw production sound with songs heavily influenced by Lennon's recent primal therapy. Its lyrics reflect Lennon's personal issues and includes themes of child-parent abandonment and psychological suffering. The tracks were recorded in September and October 1970 at Abbey Road Studios in London, simultaneously with Ono's solo album.

The album received a mixed response from music critics, and only reached number 34 in the group's native UK. In total, Restless Heart charted in ten countries. With Whitesnake having been dropped by Geffen Records in 1994, Restless Heart did not receive a North American release, being available only as an import. The album's supporting tour was billed as Whitesnake's farewell tour, although the band would later reform in 2003. Restless Heart was reissued by Rhino Entertainment in 2021, featuring remastered and remixed versions of the album, among other previously unreleased material.
