Альбом необыкновенно цельный и слушается на одном дыхании. Звук плотный и насыщенный. Каждая композиция имеет свою изюминку, но все вместе с тем вписывается в общую атмосферу альбома. Все аранжировки очень подходящие, и песни воспринимаются как нечто новое. Обычно не хочешь испортить впечатление от оригинала при прослушивании кавера на него. В данном же случае песни настолько хороши, что эффект противоположный. Вокальные партии получились очень удачными, благодаря тому, что имелся выбор из четырех хороших исполнителей с разными вокальными данными и манерами. Каждая из дам выложилась на все 100%, прочувствовав текст песни и ее характер. Визитной карточкой альбома можно назвать атмосферность и пафос.

Альбом был закончен лишь весной 1991 года, когда Майку пришлось совмещать его промоушен вместе с деятельностью в «Genesis». В Англии пластинка пошла неплохо, зато в Штатах ее просто проигнорировали. «Mike & The Mechanics» собрались вновь после тура «Генезиса» «We Can’t Dance». Эксперименты с лишними продюсерами прекратились, и все песни для нового альбома были написаны Резерфордом, Нейлом, Робертсоном и Кэрраком. Исключение составляли лишь два кавера – «I Believe» Стиви Уандера и «You Really Got A Hold On Me» Смоки Робертсона. На этом диске «Механики» вернулись к «прогрессивному» саунду, который был утерян на «Word of mouth». «Beggar On A Beach Of Gold» хотя и не сделал прорыва на американском рынке, зато очень хорошо был встречен в Европе. Как всегда, после небольшого тура в поддержку пластинки музыканты занялись каждый своими делами.

Boz Scaggs is the second studio album by American musician Boz Scaggs, released in 1969 by Atlantic Records. A stylistically diverse album, Boz Scaggs incorporates several genres, including Americana, blue-eyed soul, country, and rhythm and blues. The lyrics are about typical themes found in blues songs, such as love, regret, guilt, and loss. Scaggs recorded the album at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio with producer Jann Wenner, the co-founder of Rolling Stone magazine. The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section heavily contributed to the album, which included a young Duane Allman, before his rise to fame with the Allman Brothers Band.
