The Lonely Boys was a band formed in the mid nineties featuring the talents of Per Gessle and Nisse Hellberg along with a couple of their friends. They formed this one-off project after being asked to write a soundtrack to a novel written by Swedish writer Mats Olsson. The story was about a Swedish band in the sixties so the The Lonely Boys became that band and recorded an entire album. The music is reminiscent of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and features all originals plus a cover of the hit song "So Much In Love" written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards for a band called The Mighty Avengers in the sixties. Per Gessle has explained that they used equipment from the era to get that authentic sixties pop sound and the result is amazing. This is a fun album full of nostalgic sounds and infectious melodies that will take you back in time. Despite the fact that this album is very hard to track down, The Lonely Boys is easily recommended to fans of Per Gessle and his awesome brand of power pop.
