Группа Elf является первым по-настоящему крупным и успешным проектом великого патриарха тяжелой музыки Ронни Джеймса Дио. В начале 70-ых годов у коллектива вышло три студийных альбома, первый из которых я сейчас и рецензирую. В составе на тот момент числилось четыре человека - гитарист Дэвид Фейнштейн, клавишник Микки Ли Соул, барабанщик Гэри Дрисколл, и сам Ронни, который в те стародавние времена еще играл на бас гитаре. Сразу хотелось бы предупредить всех поклонников Дио - материал, исполняемый Elf, не имеет почти никакого отношения даже к творчеству Rainbow, а уж к Dio и Black Sabbath тем более. Elf играют старомодный хард рок, весь насквозь пропитанный духом 60-ых. Даже столь традиционного для харда звучания органа "Хэммонд" почти совсем нет, основной инструмент Микки - обычное пианино. Ну а любители "фирменных" сказочно-мистических текстов рискуют впасть в шок, услышав маэстро исполняющего песни типа "Love Me Like A Woman". Но, несмотря на все эти нюансы, я искренне рекомендую ознакомится с творчеством Elf всем почитателям Ронни. Во-первых, все гениальные музыканты с чего то начинали. Ну а во-вторых, это самое начало у Дио очень даже неплохое. Такие замечательные не напрягающие треки как "Hoochie Koochie Woman" или "I'm Coming Back For You" создают приятную атмосферу возвращения лет на 40 назад, когда классический рок-н-ролл был живее всех живых.

Communiqué is the second studio album by the British rock band Dire Straits released on 15 June 1979 by Vertigo Records internationally and by Warner Bros. Records in the United States. The album produced the single "Lady Writer", which reached #45 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #51 on the UK Singles Chart. The album reached #1 on album charts in Germany, New Zealand, and Sweden, #11 in the United States and #5 in the United Kingdom. Communiqué was later certified gold in the United States, platinum in the United Kingdom and double-platinum in France.

"Song Sung Blue" is a 1972 hit song written and recorded by Neil Diamond, inspired by the second movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto #21. It was released on Diamond's album, Moods and later appeared on many of Diamond's live and compilation albums.
It was his second #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, after 1970's "Cracklin' Rosie", and to date his last solo #1 song (he had #1 duet with Barbra Streisand in 1978: You Don't Bring Me Flowers). It spent twelve weeks in the Top 40. In addition, "Song Sung Blue" spent seven weeks at #1 on the adult contemporary chart. It also made the pop chart in the United Kingdom, reaching #14 on the UK Singles Chart. The song has become one of Diamond's standards, and he often performs it during concerts.

Dreams is the thirty-first studio album by Neil Diamond. It was produced by Diamond and released by Columbia Records in 2010. The album contains cover versions of popular songs that Diamond claims in the liner notes are among his favorites. Among them is "I'm a Believer", which he wrote for The Monkees back in 1966. Because in 1997 Castle Communications was unwilling to produce a 2-CD set of the double live album 'Snaz, four tracks were removed so that a remastered version could be released on a single CD. Rob Corich, who was doing the remastering, included these songs here as bonus tracks to rectify this.

Snakes 'n' Ladders is the seventeenth studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in January 1989 on Vertigo Records. This was the last album with Manny Charlton, who retired in 1990.

Razamanaz is the third studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in 1973. It was the band's first LP record to break the charts and was produced by Deep Purple's Roger Glover who the band was on tour with at the time. "Woke Up This Morning" was re-recorded for this album.

Rampant is the fifth studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in 1974. It was the third of their LP albums to be produced by Roger Glover, and proved to be the last time they would work with him.
