Finnish folk metal band Korpiklaani are back after three years, and this time, with ‘Noita’ - a solid album of drunken mischief and fun that seems to say that they never actually went away. Nobody expected the band to change their sound, and they didn’t: sticking to the formula that worked on earlier releases like ‘Karkelo’ and ‘Manala’, Korpiklaani have come up with a belter of a record.
However, ‘Noita’ is a tad darker than ‘Manala’, the previous release, as it has some melancholic and slow songs, but those are soon forgotten as the traditionally upbeat and fun folk metal kicks in. The presence of the violin, accordion and fiddle is more prominent in this album, and these instruments allow the band to effortlessly utilise the higher end of the music that the low guitars, growls and drums leaves open. The guitars perform a more significant role too and don’t get eclipsed by the other instruments.
Fans of Korpiklaani won’t be disappointed, and this album, with a good balance between folk and metal, is sure to create many new fans.

“The intention of the song writing of »From Beyond« was to continue the path we started with »Death By Fire«. To exaggerate our own sound and to write direct and uncompromising metal songs. In opposite to most of the other new bands, we don't decide to play a certain type of music and therefore limit ourselves in the song writing. We do whatever we want and feel totally free in composing songs,“ commented ENFORCER vocalist & guitarist Olof Wikstrand.

Never judge a book by its cover, the wise men say – and they couldn’t be all wrong, could they? Upon the first look at the album cover of Bulletrain’s Start Talking, you see a black-and-white photo that portrays a really strange case of an everyday accessory one uses for protection against rain. And then you start to wonder – is Bulletrain one of those bands whose music is laden with the symbolic meanings and underlying contents, one the listener has to think really hard to understand? But if you’re not into sublime messages and complicated symbols, don’t worry; a wicked (or simply holey) umbrella has nothing to do with what you’ll hear once Start Talking is given a spin.
