Первый полноценный альбом Bal-Sagoth, следующий за записанным в том же году демо. В отличии от всех последующих творений, здесь преобладает не black, а death, разбавленный характерной для группы "эпической" клавишной подложкой. Звучит очень рвано, агрессивно, добавляет сумбура барабанная долбежка. Кое-где при замедление темпа явно проступают doom-кусочки в духе, например, "Crestfallen" от Anathema, с протяжным, низким рыком. Чистого вокала почти нет, кроме нескольких декламаций Бирона, которые тоже звучат более жестко, чем позднее, а там где не жестко - там более впечатляюще. Предворяет все это ambient-вступление с жутковатым кваканием лягушек. Вообщем, я думаю, все встанет на места, когда вы хорошенько начитаететсь Лавкрафта.
