Formed in the U.K. as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, the troupe eventually gradually morphed into a polished pop/rock act over the course of a decade, and in the process, became one of the most influential bands of the '70s. Throughout all their incarnations, the only consistent members of Fleetwood Mac were drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie; the rhythm section that provided the band with its name. Ironically, they had the least influence over the musical direction of the group. Originally, guitarists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer provided the band with its gutsy, neo-psychedelic blues-rock sound, but after their departures, the group began moving toward pop/rock, first with the songwriting of pianist Christine McVie, and then with the addition of singer Stevie Nicks and guitar marvel Lindsey Buckingham. Man of the world, written by Peter Green, was originally release in April of 1960 and peaked at #2 in the UK chart. Green re-recorded it in 1999 with his Peter Green Splinter Group for their 1999 release, Destiny Road. It's undeniable that the "classic" line-up of Fleetwood-McVie-McVie-Buckingham-Nicks has been the one that has provided the band with its biggest hits. For that reason, the final part of CD2 of our collection is dedicated to five of the band most well-known songs re-invented by Karen Souza, Jazzystics and Anakelly among others. The CD 3 of our project features the band during a live presentation in California in 1997 that features most of their greatest hits including Dreams, Go Your Own Way, Everywhere, The Chain, Big Love and Gypsy Also, it features the live debut of the song Temporary One and Silver Springs for the first time in concert since 1977.

It is the only album by the band without any involvement of keyboardist/vocalist Christine McVie.
The release of the album brought the band overnight success; in the UK, the album reached No. 4 and stayed on the charts 37 weeks, despite the lack of a hit single. The album barely made the charts in the US, reaching No. 198. Even though the album has sold over a million copies in the UK, it has never received a certification there. A fin de lograr un sonido más natural y áspero, el grupo contrató al productor Steve Albini para grabar In Utero durante un periodo de dos semanas en febrero de 1993, en Pachyderm Studio. La música se grabó rápidamente con pocos trucos de estudio, y las letras de las canciones y la presentación del álbum incorporaban imágenes médicas que transmitían los puntos de vista del líder Kurt Cobain sobre su vida personal, su reciente paternidad y la nueva fama de la banda.
