За счёт меньшего хронометража и фактического отсутствия разговорных интерлюдий альбом воспринимается явно более цельно, нежели предшественник, да и слушается за один присест полегче. Правда, ярких и хуковых моментов здесь прискорбно мало. Да и то немалая их часть - это те самые мелодии и строчки текстов, что проходят красной нитью сквозь всю сагу, подчёркивая ту самую концептуальность. Причём уже на "The Rise" они звучали вторично; здесь же пересказ "The Crimson Idol" зашёл уже на третий круг. Из ярких индивидуальностей: "Clockwork Mary", уже упомянутая "Never Say Die", да ещё "Come Back to Black" - тут имеем один из самых приставучих припевов, что только записал Лоулесс.
