Am 4. März 1970 kam ein Lied in die deutsche Hitparade, das bis auf Platz 1 empor schnellen und zum Bestseller des Jahres werden sollte: "Du" von Peter Maffay. Damit begann die steile Karriere des kleinen Sängers und Gitarristen aus dem rumänischen Kronstadt. Eine Karriere, die bis heute weitergeht. Früher war Peter Maffay als Schnulzensänger abgestempelt, bis er 1979 mit dem Album Steppenwolf zeigte, wo künftig sein Rock-Weg hinführen würde. Dass er inzwischen mit Kindermusicals wie Tabaluga Edelmetallauszeichnungen einheimst, dass er mit Musikern aus aller Welt Ethnopop und Multikulti-Rock einspielt, tut seinem inzwischen gefestigten Image als deutscher Super-Rockstar keinen Abbruch, im Gegenteil.
