When Nothing Remains продвинулись по части аранжировок – "Thy Dark Serenity" звучит сложнее предшественника, более развито. Здесь есть много партий чистого вокала, местами проявляется злая мистика или, наоборот, акустическое изящество. Основные риффы обыгрываются множеством различных способов. Только вот всё это интереса не вызывает. "As all torn asunder", при всей своей простоте, содержал в себе немало цепляющих моментов. В новом альбоме же просто очень качественно обыгрываются клише мелодичного дэт-дума. С эмоциями всё в порядке, но звучание чересчур тривиальное. Слушать этот альбом по-настоящему хочется разве что ради вокала Йена Сэллэндэра – такой душевный рёв трудно испортить. Поклонникам Swallow the Sun и Draconian рекомендуется.
