Перед каждым выходом его нового альбома в среде поклонников начинаются бесконечные гадания о том, что будет на новом диске: рок, фанк, блюз? А может быть что-то еще? А может все вместе?Последний альбом "Return Of Crystal Karma" на этот вопрос однозначного ответа не дал. Хьюз, уже в который раз до неузнаваемости поменявший свой сценический имидж, на этом альбоме очень сильно походит на американского Prince. А сам «сольник» являет что-то среднее между фанк- и рок-музыкой. Треки очень причудливо сочетаются между собой, правда следует отметить, что преобладание рок-композиций заметно невооруженным взглядом, а элементы фанка (знаменитые хьюзовские вокализмы) явным образом просматриваются лишь в трех композициях.
