Alchemist - австралийская группа из Nation's Capital City, Canberra. Первоначально коллектив был сформирован в 1987 как школьный проект Adam (гитара, вокал, клавишные), который прошёл в первый период своего существования через многие стилистические перемены. В конце 1989 Rodney (ударные, перкуссия) присоединился к Adam, и в мае 1990 первое серьезное демо было готово. Тогда Alchemist играли technical thrash metal наподобие Destruction, Voi Vod, Coroner, Celtic Frost, Slayer и Metallica. Так или иначе, группа все же занялась поисками собственного стиля и стала включать в свою музыку все больше разнородных элементов.
