К сожалению, тех же теплых слов никак нельзя удостоить следующего диска, выпущенного в 1981 году. До сих пор ''Cured'' признается самой слабой работой гитариста. Во-первых, Стив использовал драмм-машинку (получилось ужасно). Во-вторых, альбом определенно был выпущен с прицелом на покорение поклонников поп-музыки. Тем не менее, за выпуском ''Cured'' последовало самое продолжительное (оно таковым и осталось по сегодняшний день!) концертное турне в поддержку диска. Во время турне за ударными уже сидел Иен Мосли (Ian Mosely), который через несколько лет стал бессменным ударником Marillion. Интересно, что в 1982 году Стив организовал выступление в Guildford Civic Centre, подготовленное для Tadworth Children's Hospital, на котором Хэккетта поддержали старые коллеги по Genesis: Майк Рузерфорд и Питер Гэбриэл.
