Демо "A Gate Through Bloodstained Mirrors" - это семьдесят минут депрессивного блэка, иногда приближающегося к эмбиенту. Такого, каким и должен быть депрессивный блэк - преимущественно инструментального, с ненавязчивыми клавишными, монотонного, при этом в меру мелодичного. Музыка Xasthur мягче некоторых других образцов жанра (Shining, например), однако это ей совершенно не вредит. На диске явно чувствуется влияние Burzum периода "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" (да как и на всех дисках Xasthur), причем это касается не только монотонных повторений одной и той же мелодии: у Xasthur отсутствует какая-либо виртуозная техника, но при этом музыка, в целом, оставляет впечатление композиторского мастерства.
