Вообще, в плане подхода к сочинительству “To Drink from the Night Itself” напоминает поздний Dark Tranquillity, где также много разреженного пространства и какой-то недосказанности. Но если последние плотно “запостились” (да и с настроением у них попроще), то At the Gates атмосферят исключительно при помощи привычных средств. Максимум, что они позволяют себе взять со стороны, это струнная секция, венчающая альбом. “The Mirror Black” с решимостью самоубийцы неторопливо водит ножом по запястьям, оставляя после себя не то пустоту, не то эйфорию. И вопрос: это реквием? Или же на закате своей карьеры At the Gates смогут ещё порадовать?
