Однако "Ascension" меня искренне удивил и, соответственно, порадовал. Paradise Lost - группа, которую невозможно слушать в отрыве от контекста. Их дискография - это хронология жанра, который он же сами и помогли создать. "Ascension" же ощущается как музей ретроспективы: тут есть витрины с ранним Death Doom, готическими мелодиями середины девяностых, мрачными атмосферными экспериментами нулевых и современным плотным продакшном. Но при этом это не "Greatest Hits", а, скорее, "Best Of Every World" - склеенное в одно мощное, слаженное полотно.
