Electric Warrior is a 1971 album by Marc Bolan's band T. Rex, their sixth since their debut as Tyrannosaurus Rex in 1968, and their second under the name T. Rex. The album marked a turning point in the band's sound, moving away from the folk-oriented music of the group's previous albums and pioneering a flamboyant, pop-friendly take on electric rock & roll known as glam rock.
The album reached number 1 on the UK charts and became the best selling album of 1971. The single "Get it On" reached the top ten in the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Retitled "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" by the US record company, it also became the band's only hit in North America.
Electric Warrior has since received acclaim as a pivotal release of the glam rock movement.

"Get It On", "Children of The Revolution", "20th Century Boy", "Metal Guru", "Solid Gold Easy Action" and the rest of his top ten hits showed Bolan's worth as a writer of great pop-rock tunes, but he was never built to last. He was a pop phenomenon, but with a few glorious exceptions, pop phenomenons invariably have a short shelf-life before the bubble bursts. When the bubble burst for Bolan it was in the form of a rapid descent in terms of sales and quality material.

Preceded by some of Bolan’s most fondly-remembered singles, “Children Of The Revolution”, “Solid Gold Easy Action” and the classic “20th Century Boy”, 1973’s Tanx was the first T. Rex album to make full use of the ever-expanding range of studio gadgets. And while the album represented a new musical departure, several tracks maintained a direct link to the old sound. Hit singles “The Groover” and “Truck On (Tyke)” preceded Zinc Alloy, which was released in March 1974, and included the follow-up hit “Teenage Dream”. The results of listening to black radio stations whilst touring the US during 1973 are apparent on this album, something of an oft-overlooked treasure trove.

When Marc Bolan delivered the seminal album Electric Warrior to his record company he knew he was now free to set up his own Record label and run things his way. Over the next six months free of contracts Marc recorded the basis of what would become his next (and biggest selling) album `The Slider' for his own label `The T.Rex Hot Wax Co.' Alongside these tracks this box set features tracks that never ever made it onto record and have been included here for the very first time. A Beard of Stars was the act's first album with Marc Bolan's new musical partner Mickey Finn and featured Bolan on vocals, guitar, organ and bass and Finn on percussion. It was notable for being the first album on which Bolan used electric guitar, although that instrument had first appeared on the band's 1969 single "King of the Rumbling Spires"/"Do You Remember". According to Mark Deming of AllMusic, A Beard of Stars "was the turning point where Marc Bolan began evolving from an unrepentant hippie into the full-on swaggering rock star he would be within a couple of years, though for those not familiar with his previous work, it still sounds like the work of a man with his mind plugged into the age of lysergic enchantment."
