Club des Belugas ist eine Nu Jazz- und Lounge-Formation in Deutschland. Der Kern von Club des Belugas besteht aus Maxim Illion und Kitty the Bill; sie werden unterstützt von verschiedenen Jazzsängern und Instrumentalisten, darunter Reiner Winterschladen, Mickey Neher, Brenda Boykin und Ester Rada.

Club des Belugas? Das sagte mir gar nichts bis vor wenigen Wochen. Die Entdeckung einer musikalischen Neuerscheinung vom Feinsten, "Cameleon" mit Maya Fadeeva als geniale Sängerin hat die Spur gezeichnet. Damit war die Neugier geweckt, was diese Band noch so produziert hat. Dieser Clubjazz mit Dynamik, gehörter Spiellaune und perfektem Sound ist der ersten Entdeckung gefolgt. Nur ganz wenig mit Gesang aber dem Vokaljazz der wandelbaren Maya Vadeeva ebenbürtig, Die Clubband hat Spass und macht Spass. Ich höre den Sound gern immer wieder.

Bob Marley is best known for his classic Island Records catalog, and while that material is undeniably great, there are many Marley fans and historians who feel that his finest recordings actually came earlier, when he and the Wailers were still largely a Jamaican phenomenon. Wherever one stands on that issue, the fact remains that Marley's early work, particularly the sessions with producer Lee "Scratch" Perry in 1970 and 1971, are of an uncommonly high quality. This collection combines several of the Perry tracks ("The Sun Is Shining," "Duppy Conqueror," "African Herbsman," "Mr. Brown") with those produced by Leslie Kong ("Soul Shakedown Party") and by the Wailers themselves ("Trench Town Rock," "Lively Up Yourself," both of which were originally released on the group's own Tuff Gong label), and the selections are enough to provide a brief but decent introduction to this Jamaican phase of Marley's career. There are literally hundreds of editions of this material on the market -- some legally licensed, some not -- but Roots of a Legend is at least honestly rendered, with decent packaging and sound. A bonus DVD featuring footage from Marley's 1980 tour (undertaken just 17 months before his death) in support of the Survival album is also included.

Fresco is the fourth and final studio album by the British dance band M People. It includes the Top 10 singles "Just for You" and "Angel St", the hit single "Fantasy Island", and a cover version of the Roxy Music song "Avalon".

Elegant Slumming is the second album by the British dance band M People. It was released on 4 October 1993 charting and peaking at number 2 on the UK Album Chart and spent 87 weeks in the Top 75. It re-entered the chart three times in October 1996 and March and September 1997. Its overall sales stand at 835,000 as of September 2011.

Bizarre Fruit II is an reissued and expanded version of M People's 1994 Bizarre Fruit album, with the single versions of "Search for the Hero" and "Love Rendezvous" in place of the originals, and including the band's cover of the Small Faces' "Itchycoo Park". It was initially released as a limited edition with a bonus Live and Remixed CD or cassette. The Live and Remixed disc contains live tracks recorded at GMEX in Manchester on 16 December 1994 except "Search for the Hero" which was recorded at Grosse Freiheit in Hamburg on 26 February 1995.

Irving Berlin - was an American composer and lyricist. His music forms a large part of the Great American Songbook.
Born in Imperial Russia, Berlin arrived in the United States at the age of five. He published his first song, "Marie from Sunny Italy", in 1907, receiving 33 cents for the publishing rights, and became known for international hits, such as 1911's "Alexander's Ragtime Band". He also was an owner of the Music Box Theatre on Broadway. For much of his career Berlin could not read sheet music, and was such a limited piano player that he could only play in the key of F-sharp; he used his custom piano equipped with a transposing lever when he needed to play in keys other than F-sharp.

The jazz content on this CD from singer Diane Schuur is rather slight, but this is actually one of her finest recordings. Schuur (who has a lovely voice) sings straightforward versions of ten veteran ballads while accompanied by one of two string orchestras. Tom Scott on reeds and trumpeter Jack Sheldon have short spots, but this is very much Schuur's show. She really excels in the restrained setting, making this a superior middle-of-the-road pop recording.

As part of Verve's For Lovers series, the genius alto saxophonist Charlie Parker is spotlighted on 11 tracks recorded between 1949 and 1954. This romantic set of standards aptly highlights Bird's melancholic flight, especially on the seven tracks from Charlie Parker with Strings: "Easy to Love," "I Didn't Know What Time It Was," "Laura," "Everything Happens to Me," "Summertime," "Autumn in New York," and "Out of Nowhere."
