Elegant Slumming is the second album by the British dance band M People. It was released on 4 October 1993 charting and peaking at number 2 on the UK Album Chart and spent 87 weeks in the Top 75. It re-entered the chart three times in October 1996 and March and September 1997. Its overall sales stand at 835,000 as of September 2011.

Bizarre Fruit II is an reissued and expanded version of M People's 1994 Bizarre Fruit album, with the single versions of "Search for the Hero" and "Love Rendezvous" in place of the originals, and including the band's cover of the Small Faces' "Itchycoo Park". It was initially released as a limited edition with a bonus Live and Remixed CD or cassette. The Live and Remixed disc contains live tracks recorded at GMEX in Manchester on 16 December 1994 except "Search for the Hero" which was recorded at Grosse Freiheit in Hamburg on 26 February 1995.

The jazz content on this CD from singer Diane Schuur is rather slight, but this is actually one of her finest recordings. Schuur (who has a lovely voice) sings straightforward versions of ten veteran ballads while accompanied by one of two string orchestras. Tom Scott on reeds and trumpeter Jack Sheldon have short spots, but this is very much Schuur's show. She really excels in the restrained setting, making this a superior middle-of-the-road pop recording.

As part of Verve's For Lovers series, the genius alto saxophonist Charlie Parker is spotlighted on 11 tracks recorded between 1949 and 1954. This romantic set of standards aptly highlights Bird's melancholic flight, especially on the seven tracks from Charlie Parker with Strings: "Easy to Love," "I Didn't Know What Time It Was," "Laura," "Everything Happens to Me," "Summertime," "Autumn in New York," and "Out of Nowhere."

Carmen Mercedes McRae - was an American jazz singer, composer, pianist, and actress. Most of Bob Marley's early music was recorded with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, who together with Marley were the most prominent members of the Wailers. In 1972, the Wailers had their first hit outside Jamaica when Johnny Nash covered their song "Stir It Up", which became a UK hit. The 1973 album Catch a Fire was released worldwide, and sold well. It was followed by Burnin', which included the song "I Shot the Sheriff". Eric Clapton's cover of the song became a hit in 1974.

Bob Marley and the Wailers were a Jamaican reggae and ska band created by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. The band formed when self-taught musician Hubert Winston McIntosh (Peter Tosh) met Neville Livingston (Bunny Wailer), and Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley) in 1963. By late 1963 Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, and Cherry Smith had joined the Wailers. After Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the band in 1974, Bob Marley began touring with new band members. His new backing band included brothers Carlton Barrett and Aston "Family Man" Barrett on drums and bass respectively, Junior Marvin and Al Anderson on lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl "Wya" Lindo on keyboards, and Alvin "Seeco" Patterson on percussion. The "I Threes", consisting of Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths, and Marley's wife, Rita, provided backing vocals.

This is a compilation of some 1970s LPs. If you like Weather Report, Chick Corea, Santana or Miles Davis of this period, you'll enjoy this one. At 8 tracks and just over 40 minutes, one wishes they'd be a little more generous. What's here is a pretty good mix of Cobham compositions though; includes two Cobham's fusion classics: Spectrum and Crosswinds.

In the 1970s, Billy Cobham was one of the most dynamic names in jazz-rock fusion. He recorded with Miles Davis and John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra before striking out on his own. He became highly influential in jazz and rock drum sounds, with his high pitched, tuned drums and his interesting mixtures of traditional beats with experimental melodic drumming. This album is a re-release of the second of five albums that he cut for CBS records, released now by Sony with two additional tracks and a new attempt at mixing and mastering with all that digital equipment can bring to the original analog recordings.

U.S. jazz clarinetist and leader of the most popular band of the swing era. Goodman formed a big band in 1934, using arrangements by Fletcher Henderson. The band's sensational broadcast from Los Angeles's Palomar Ballroom in 1935 is seen as the beginning of the swing era. Goodman's band featured trumpeters Bunny Berigan, Ziggy Elman, and Harry James and drummer Gene Krupa, all of whom would establish big bands of their own.
