Четвертая работа жгучего американского инструменталиста действительно зацепила. Несмотря на появление большого количества вокальных партий, музыка не потеряла своего шарма и остается все таким же авангардно-инструментальным хард-роком/AOR-ом, с оригинальнейшей мелодикой грустноватого привкуса, которые относятся к "ностальгиню-навевающим" альбомам моей коллекции. Все выдержано в классическом духе предыдущих работ - среднетемповые крепенькие вещицы с великолепнейшими мелодийными элементами. Таковыми являются как запомнившиеся мне аккустическо-сологитарно-клавишные переходы, так и вокал, записанный на половине вещей. Он оказался как нельзя кстати, и только подчеркивает и приумножает ностальгический пресс.

Obtained Enslavement's Witchcraft fulfills the "symphonic black metal" label much better than most other bands of that tag. It is symphonic not only in its use of synthesized strings but also in the diverse instrumentation and extensive use of counterpoint and development of themes. It is black-metal in that it has hateful vocals, sinister atmosphere, and composition based on tremolo-picked guitar riffs.

An American in Paris is a jazz-influenced symphonic poem (or tone poem)[1] for orchestra by American composer George Gershwin first performed in 1928. It was inspired by the time that Gershwin had spent in Paris and evokes the sights and energy of the French capital during the Années folles.

Gershwin scored the piece for the standard instruments of the symphony orchestra plus celesta, saxophones, and automobile horns. He brought back four Parisian taxi horns for the New York premiere of the composition, which took place on December 13, 1928, in Carnegie Hall, with Walter Damrosch conducting the New York Philharmonic.

В данном случае мы имеем дело с лучшим, на мой взгляд, альбомом Менгиров. В нем удачно объединены лучшие моменты первых альбомов, а также романтичность Buchonia. Альбом слушается на одном дыхании - с первых риффов и до последнего соло. Сильной стороной данного альбома, несомненно, является чистый мужской вокал, благодаря которому и создается атмосфера древности. А слабой - скриминг, коего, к счастью, на альбоме немного. В целом, альбом среднетемповый, однако встречаются и скоростные моменты. Возможно, некоторым слушателям "Hildebrandslied" покажется чрезмерно вылизанным и в некоторой степени коммерческим, но это не умаляет его достоинств.

На этот раз все случилось так - и не так. «Gardarsholmur» действительно представляет собой сугубо «природное» полотно, рисующее перед глазами безлюдные пейзажи Исландии или, на крайний случай, северный Норвегии. Это примерно то, чем мог бы быть «клавишный» Burzum, если бы Варг лучше разбирался в электронике.

Действительно, «шизофрения». Первая по-настоящему профессиональная работа группы. С этой работы и начался путь на вершину олимпа тяжёлой музыки ныне знаменитой команды, а тогда только начинающей Sepultura. Несмотря на любительское качество записи, этот альбом я считаю лучших трэшевым творением команды. Без сомнений, этот альбом кардинально повлиял на всю тяжёлую музыку. Определённо нужный релиз в мире трэш музыки, да и не только. Десяток срывающих башню песен, отсюда и вывод, что название альбом подобрано не случайно, оно точно описывает весь альбом. Мастерство музыканты показали ещё на первых альбомах, на момент записи тех творений они были ещё достаточно молоды, а вот к 1987 как раз подросли и сделали свой самый лучший альбом на то время.
