Delain have transformed into an ambitious supergroup project into a symphonic powerhouse, easily now ranking alongside the Dutch greats of Within Temptation, Epica and After Forever. The band are on a perpetual mission to gain an identity as a great in their own manner, and with each album, they have succeeded a little more. Moonbathers‘ has proven that there is still a lot to be excited about in Delain, and they don’t intend to simply fall off the radar after releasing a series of successful albums. Germany has yet again contributed to power metal in the form of Winterstorm. Winterstorm released their third studio album ‘Cathyron’ on 7th February 2014 via Noise Art Records. They have created such a thin line between these two sub-genres that it is difficult to comprehend when the power metal elements are playing and when the folk metal elements are doing so. They have mixed both sounds in such a way that it gets hard to differentiate between the two.

The Last Stand is a concept album and takes inspiration from famous defensive “last stand” battles. On June 10th 2016 the first single The Lost Battalion was released, followed by Blood of Bannockburn on July the 15th and Shiroyama on August the 12th.

STARGAZERYare a new melodic metal band from Finland. The band sounds very dynamic. The songs are filled with memorable hooks and riffs that you can really get into. The melodies are very catchy and engaging to the listener. I like the fact that they picked a song by BLACK SABBATH to cover that didn’t feature OZZY or DIO. I have always loved the Tony Martin era of BLACK SABBATH and they did a wonderful job covering “Headless Cross”. This is a solid heavy metal album.
