Эту команду, играющую в стиле дэт-метал, основали бывшие члены Blood Thirsty Death: гитарист Бретт Маковски и басист Арагон Амори вместе с гитаристом Джоном МакЭнти (экс-Revenant) и барабанщиком Полом Леднеем (экс-Connecticut Cocksuckers). Прошло совсем немного времени, как МакЭнти остался в одиночестве, поскольку остальная троица откололась от него, чтобы организовать свою блэковую банду Profanatica. К марту 1990-го Джон собрал новую версию Incantation, включавшую в себя Ронни Део (бас), Сала Сейджо (гитара) и Питера Барневика (ударные). Эта конфигурация и реализовала первое нормальное демо.
