"The Crestfallen", на мой взгляд, самая внятная заявка о себе со стороны Anathema до 93 года. В первую очередь, ребята хорошо записались и теперь их творчество можно по-настоящему оценить, не опираясь лишь на догадки. Первая же песня "...And I Lust" представляет перед нами типичный анафемский стиль во всей его красе: депрессивные, сдержанно-мелодичные риффы, депрессивный и на первый взгляд непрофессиональный, но очень внушительный вокал Даррена Уайта и психоделическое соло в конце. По сути, здесь представлены основные ингредиенты творчества Anathema - грубость, давящая напропалую; депрессия, переходящая в отстранённую психоделичность. Разве это не уменьшенная модель музыкального развития этих ливерпульцев?
