Группа была образована в 1981 году Чибоном "Чюи" Баттерманом и Томом Нимейером, выросшими на диете из "Black Flag" и "Circle Jerks". Как раз в то время парни переехали из Калифорнии в штат Вашингтон. Местечко, где они остановились, было довольно захолустным, и единственным панком, которого они здесь обнаружили, оказался 14-летний Дана Коллинз. Дана мог отстучать на барабанах целый альбом "Sex Pistols", и этого оказалось вполне достаточно, чтобы Чюи и Том приняли его в свою команду, названную "No Reason". Сначала Нимейер взялся за гитару, а Баттерман начал петь, но потом Чюи переключился на бас, а вокальные функции отошли к Тому.
