Darkane расцвел на "обломках" другой группы - Agretator, злополучной, но очень талантливой молодой формации. Когда Agretator канул в Лету, барабанщик Peter Wildoer и гитарист Christofer Malmstrom объединились с Klas Ideberg (гитара) и Jorgen Lofberg (бас-гитара). Введение новых инструментов позволило ужесточить и и ускорить саунд, сделать его более техничным и брутальным. Из остальной массы групп Darkane выделяют особый стиль игры Peter Wildoers и резкие, иногда рваные риффы.Поскольку Peter Wildoer барабанил также на альбомах "Crossing The Rubicon" (Armageddon) и "Stigmata" (Arch Enemy), лейбл WAR Music решили попробовать группу и попросили их записать два демо-трека для сборника. Запись "Convicted" и "July 1999" была осуществлена в WAR Studios.
