Весной 1997 года два повернутых на музыке 17-летних австрийца, Мартин Вайс и Флориан Даммаш решили вернуться во времена легендарного альбома "Minas Morgul". Первый из них, очарованный звуками фэнтэзийного блэк-металла Summoning и имевший за плечами 12 лет игры на пианино, взялся за сочинение композиций, а второй больше склонялся к менеджерским обязанностям. Способность Мартина изобретать завораживающие мелодии вскоре реализовалась в песне "An Myrrddhin", но у проекта не хватало лирической концепции. Немного подумав, парни решили адаптировать под свои нужды поэмы о короле Артуре и волшебнике Мерлине. Скопировано с Dark-World.ru. Из этой идеи, кстати, родилось и имя группы - Энид звали самую красивую девушку артуровских времен. Следом на свет появилась еще парочка треков, а чтобы показать свои корни, Enid записали кавер Summoning "The Passing Of The Grey Company".
