С самого начала HEARTLAND ориентировались на популярный в то время американизированный AOR, что произвело впечатление на крупную компанию А&М, которая уже имела в своем каталоге коллектив аналогичной направленности DARE. В 1991 году фирмы выпустила дебютный одноименный альбом состава и в течение четырех месяцев поддержала его выпуском целых трех синглов: "Real World", "FightFire With Fire" и "Carrie Ann" (кстати говоря, последних в дискографии HEART LAND).
