marillion.com is the eleventh studio album by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion, released on 18 October 1999 by their own label, Intact Records, and distributed by Castle Communications.It was the last of the three recordings the band made on a contract with the latter between being dropped by EMI Records in 1995 and eventually becoming independent in the 2000s. Continuing Marillion's decline in mainstream success, it became the first album to fail to reach UK Top 40, peaking at number 53 and staying in the charts for just one week.It was also the first album from which no singles were released officially. However, "Deserve" was used as a promo single, and "Rich" served as a radio single in Brazil.

Концептуальный характер не всегда подразумевает, что альбом обязательно должен быть сильным, однако здесь мы как раз имеем этому подтверждение. Получилась интересная работа с грустной атмосферой. Советую, как это было сделано на обложке, слушать диск «громко и с выключенным светом». Для тех, кто так и не смог въехать в него даже после этого, предлагаю прослушать живую версию на альбоме «Made Again», записанную на концерте в Париже.

Marillion давно встал на этот путь. Выгнал Fish`а и стал спокойным и уверенным. Прежний лидер метался, сомневался, убивался, паясничал, страдал и ощущал трагизм своего положения. И музыка тянулась за ним, группа подыгрывала, умело аккомпанировала и получалось всё вроде бы отлично. Обратите внимание на минорные интонации – они полностью владеют музыкой группы того периода, потому что Fish именно страдает. Но, судя по развитию событий, музыканты оказались иного склада, музыку с надрывом исполнять становилось труднее и возможно не приносило удовольствия.

Первые четыре альбома группы – это «золотой» фонд прогрессива, причем без всяких скидок на годы. Грандиозные и трогательные композиции, интровертные и чувственные. Потом неформальный лидер группы Fish покинул коллектив и на его место взяли Стива Хогарта. Следующие лет 15 группа пыталась как могла уйти от «того» Marillion, который стал для многих культом, но увы: в большинстве своем альбомы группы в 90-х (за исключением «Brave») не то, чтобы плохи, но явно не дотягивают до того уровня.

Этот альбом является концептуальным не только по текстам, но и по восприятию. Пауз между песнями практически нет, поэтому часто невозможно понять, где одна песня, а где другая. Но это нисколько не вредит альбому, так как воспринимается он как единое целое произведение. Здесь почти нет драматизма и накала страстей, подобно дебютнику. Это просто душевная мелодичная музыка, печальная, романтичная и ненапрягающая, слушать которую одно удовольствие.

Script for a Jester's Tear is the debut studio album by British neo-progressive rock band Marillion, released in the United Kingdom on 13 March 1983 by EMI Records. The album reached number seven and spent 31 weeks in the UK Albums Chart, eventually achieving a platinum certificate, and produced the Top 40 single "He Knows You Know" and the Top 20 single "Garden Party".
Script for a Jester's Tear is the only studio album by Marillion to feature the band's original drummer and founding member Mick Pointer, who was dismissed following the album's UK tour. In Martin Popoff's 2016 biography of Yes, the album is credited with being part of a "new wave" of British progressive rock which also helped to give a second life to earlier bands.

After a highly successful year with their album ‘FEAR’, Marillion are revisiting one of their classic albums, ‘Marbles’. They are set to release a complete live performance of the album entitled ‘Marbles In The Park’ through earMUSIC on January 20, 2017. The live release – available on double CD, DVD and Blu-ray – was recorded at 2015’s Marillion Weekend in Port Zelande and pays tribute to their 2004 album Marbles. The DVD and Blu-ray editions also include the trailer for Unconventional, the documentary about the weekend conventions.
