Among the songs on the album are the Dowd/Clapton-produced signature tune "It's in the Way That You Use It" (co-written with Robbie Robertson, and featured in the Paul Newman-Tom Cruise film The Color of Money in October 1986, a month before the album's release, subsequently reaching No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for one week) and three Collins-produced numbers—the up-tempo, horn-laden "Run" and the guitar-laden rockers "Tearing Us Apart" (with Tina Turner), "Holy Mother", a tribute to Richard Manuel of The Band, and "Miss You".

This is a stone cold groove of an album. Eliza is a great songwriter and delivers her version of standard rock blues with a modern slant. Not a boring second on this CD. I highly recommend. That voice, oh man. If you like her other offerings you'll love this, if you're new to eliza this is a great place to start but you'd do yourself a disservice not to get her other works.

Eliza Neals sought out the unique talents of veteran writer/producer Martin ‘Tino’ Gross (Kid Rock, RL Burnside) and united him with Detroit legend Barrett Strong (Marvin Gaye, Temptations) to begin provocative recording sessions. Eliza’s “strangely sultry blues voice” and cool writing style melted with the two masters forging a solid union. Completing their first song plus music video in the summer of 2010, proved “Misery” could truly bring happiness!

The Bridget Kelly Band is back in action with its eagerly-awaited sixth record Dark Spaces, thanks to Alpha Sun Records. The BKB has made the semifinals in the ultra-competitive International Blues Challenge twice and gone all the way to the top of the Roots Music Report’s Electric Blues chart. Bridget Kelly is the vocal focus and shows herself to be a multifaceted singer with her own ideas about how to perform roots music. She delves into both vintage and contemporary blues styles in depth on Dark Spaces and also delivers lyrics of substance with relevant messages. Her partner in crime is guitarist/producer/songwriter Tim Fik, who brings the instrumental firepower to these tracks that he also co-wrote and produced. Together, they’re a formidable creative force well able to make you groove and think at the same time.

Like the Prodigal Son, Bill Blue has returned from the wilderness. It’s been 30 years since he stepped into the studio, but he’s returned with a vengeance.
Blue – that’s his real name – was a young man when he met ‘50s superstar Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup. That encounter changed Blue’s life forever. Instead of struggling as a guitarist in his native North Carolina, he was soon touring the world with the man who some folks considered the father of rock ‘n’ roll and who wrote a string of classics, including “Mean Ol’ Frisco,” “My Mama Don’t Allow Me” and the Elvis Presley hit, “That’s All Right.”

Big Joe Shelton was honored in 2007 by being included on the “Columbus / Cat Fish Alley” Mississippi Blues Trail Marker. He was deeply influenced by Joe Williams, who was a friend as well as an instructor. Ben Ferrell (on guitar) fires out of the gate with a repetitive, uptempo guitar hook to kick off the opener, while Big Joe’s harp provides constant reminders of his talent. His CDs have been listed in the top ten on numerous national and international blues radio charts; "Ridin" A Chicken" is a definite part of that success.

The musical roots of Big Joe Shelton, a Blues Music Award Nominee, run deep in the rich, dark, soil of the Black Prairies of Northeast Mississippi; the same region that spawned the likes of blues icons Howlin’ Wolf, Big Joe Williams and Bukka White. "“Willie King was really an influential guy..." - Big Joe Shelton. Joe garnered a nomination in 2012 at The Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee for “Song of the Year” with high expectations on the 2013 release "I’d Never Let Her Down". This is a confidant recording with lyrics that are stuff that the average working guy can relate to when times can be a little tough. Good for sure!

The aspiring musician moved back to Mississippi in late 1979 and opened a stained glass studio, which he continues to operate today. Shelton also began to perform locally, primarily as a solo performer. By the mid 1990s he decided to push himself more as a musician and began putting together electric blues bands and writing his own material. Shelton currently performs with his four piece band as well as in solo and duo format. In addition to regular club gigs, he performs at festivals throughout the region, including the Howlin’ Wolf Memorial Blues Festival, Willie King’s Freedom Creek Blues Festival, and the Beale Street Mess Around.

Bad Town Blues was the brain child of Adam Norton. With a set of Chicago Blues standards they cut a 4 track demo, and played their debut performance at the Colne 2000 Great British Blues Festival. The band subsequently worked all over the country on the club and festival circuit playing original blues and covers, sharing stages with acts as diverse as The Blockheads, Dr Feelgood and Otis Grand.
