Sandra Ann Lauer - later Sandra Cretu, commonly known mononymously as Sandra, is a German pop singer who enjoyed mainstream popularity in the 1980s and early 1990s with a string of European hit singles, produced by her then-husband and musical partner, Michael Cretu, most notably "(I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena" (1985), "In the Heat of the Night" (1985), "Everlasting Love" (1987), "Secret Land" (1988), "Hiroshima" (1990), and "Don't Be Aggressive" (1992). При этом на многих агрегаторах у альбома не самая высокая оценка (где-то в районе трех из пяти), и не совсем ясно, отчего все расстроились, ведь “Vision 2020 Vision” не ломанет никаких шаблонов и делает шагов назад. Впрочем, и мне самому этот диск показался вполне обыденным, без изюминки, заставившей бы отнестись к нему серьезней, хотя и скучно точно не было. Итого, получилось качественно, просто не особо интересно.

Довольно интересный brutal death от американской команды. Несомненно, сильное звено группы - вокал, который оставляет самые приятные впечатления (мощный глубокий гроул наподобие вокалиста из Suffocation и изредка применяющийся резкий скрим). Музыкальная часть также весьма неплоха - мелодии не лишены изрядной доли мелодизма (в большей мере это относится к первым двум песням). К слабым местам можно отнести работу ударника - уж слишком она прямолинейна (имеет сильное сходство с долбежкой еще одного brutal death барабанщика - Пола Мазуркевича из Каннибал Корпс). Альбом совсем короткий - 36 минут, но и в данном случае это лишь плюс, альбом получается очень компактным, и в то же время полностью оформленным и законченным.

Сразу скажу, что от этих парней я не ожидал такого альбома. Кристально чистый, 100% нет, не пауэр, а (читай название альбома) хэви-метал в духе “Пристов”, Accept и ещё всего разного. Недаром ребята на своём сайте обещали сделать альбом гимновым, хэви-металическим до предела. Удалось блестяще. Попесенно перечислять не буду, а скажу лишь, что первая и одновременно заглавная вещь альбома действительно является маршем, под неё можно горы свернуть. По сравнению с прошлыми работами, «The Book of Heavy Metal» представляет собой зрелый, серьёзный и тяжёлый альбом, который может понравиться и старым металлистам, и молодым , и поклонникам классического хэви, и пауэрщикам.
