Марк Нопфлер уже давно обитает в Соединенных Штатах, и нет ничего удивительного, что его альбомы звучат по-американски. Кстати, с выбором названия для его последнего на сегодняшний день диска все просто: "Shangri-La" - это студия звукозаписи в Малибу, словно бы специально для того и созданная, чтобы стареющие британские рокеры могли в промежутках между сессиями греть косточки на солнышке. Альбом получился, в общем-то, типичным для старины Марка: спокойный, задумчивый и меланхоличный. Задумчивые, моментально узнаваемые ноты солирующей гитары. Создающий "атмосферу" слайд гавайки Ричарда Беннетта (Richard Bennett). Задушевно-благородный орган Джима Кокса (Jim Cox) и прохладные синтезаторные рисунки Гая Флетчера (Guy Fletcher), коллеги из времен Dire Straits. Роль ритм-секции второстепенна, а в паре номеров баса и ударных нет вообще.

Как это нет соло? А волынки?! :) Действительно, мне альбом напоминает гибрид Рамштайна и "Кельтик дэнс", причем, несмотря на территориально-этническое несоответствие, немецкий язык (со вытекающей отсюда выспренной надменной манерой исполнения, свойственной только немцам) очень удачно накладывается на волынки (которые, кстати, иногда звучат как соло-гитары - только тембр другой). В целом довольно прикольно, оттяжно и совершенно не мрачно.

Типичный представитель питомцев "Metal blade" середины 80-х годов, группа "Hallows eve" исполняла классический агрессивный трэш. Команду организовали то ли в 1983-м, то ли в 1984-м трое музыкантов из Атланты – Стэйси Андерсон (вокал), Томми Стюарт (бас) и Дэвид Стюарт (гитара). Чуть позже к ним примкнули барабанщик Тим Хелтон и второй гитарист с дурацкой кличкой Скеллатор (на самом деле его звали Стив). Почти все парни (за исключением Стива) уже имели опыт работы в местных бандах, поэтому прошло лишь несколько недель, перед тем как у "Hallows eve" была готова первая демка.Один экземпляр пленки каким-то образом попал к руководству "Metal blade", и через короткое время группа оказалась подписанной к этому лейблу. Первым делом фирма запихала понравившуюся ей композицию, "Metal merchants", на сборник "Metal massacre", а уж потом музыкантам было предложено приступить к сессиям дебютного альбома.

Альбом открывается очень мрачными звуками, чем-то напоминающими саунд-трек к оригинальному фильму “Челюсти”, далее идут какие-то гитарные запилы, а затем господа, т.е. товарищи, начинается УРАГАН! Даже не знаю, чего здесь больше – остервенелого треша или забойного хардкора. Альбом интересен бескомпромиссностью, дикостью и безумством. Звук какой-то грязный, смешанный, вокалист безумным речитативом выплевывает куски текста, барабанщик просто монстр какой-то с десятью руками и ногами, из-за грязного звука попрой непонятно, что за рифф играется в данный момент, вкрапления шизофренических сольников только усиливают впечатления от этого какофонического вихря. Надо заметить, что ребята для разнообразия то там, то сям вставляют какие-то юморные штуки, типа как в конце песни “United Shoebrothers”, где чувака тошнит по-черному, а на заднем фоне дружки прикалываются. Материал весьма и весьма интересен и заслуживает самого пристального внимания,

Очередная прогрессивная группа, в которой ударником зарабатывает себе на хлеб именитый Хэллхаммер выпускает свой уже 3-й по счет альбом, и не устает затягивать то усталую и тоскливую, то чуть более энергичную песню. Это не плохо, ведь пользу эстетической релаксации никто не отменял. Что ж, новый альбом Winds сохранил в себе металическую твердость, хоть все признаки явления «зубы заговариваем» остались, но вроде бы не преумножились, что также радует, но, боюсь, это последнее... Приличные, естественно неглупые, тяжелые риффы обеспечивают надежную опору остальному вроде как «факультативному» музицированию.

Nursery Cryme is the third studio album by the English rock band Genesis, released in November 1971 on Charisma Records. Invisible Touch is the 13th studio album by the English rock band Genesis, released on 6 June 1986 by Atlantic Records in the United States and 9 June 1986 by Charisma and Virgin Records in the United Kingdom. After taking a break in group activity for each member to continue with their solo projects in 1984, the band reconvened in October 1985 to write and record Invisible Touch with engineer and producer Hugh Padgham. As with their previous album, it was written entirely through group improvisations and no material developed prior to recording was used.

General response to Requiem for the Indifferent was positive. AllMusic stated that the album "is a typically elaborate and ambitious affair, incorporating copious amounts of choral work and classical arrangements into the band's neatly established blend of goth, progressive, power, and symphonic metal." Natalie Zed of About.com staff considers Requiem for the Indifferent "a transitional album for the band", which tries to expand their musical range experimenting with "weird" riffing and new combination of vocals, while "losing none of the richness that has gained them fans."

Discovery was the band's first number 1 album in the UK, entering the chart at that position and staying there for five weeks. The album contained five hit songs in "Shine a Little Love", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Last Train to London", "Confusion" and "The Diary of Horace Wimp", many of which were heavily influenced by disco (in fact, Richard Tandy nicknamed the album, Disco Very).
