Третий альбом Megadeth рождался в тяжелый период как для самой группы, так и лично для Дейва Мастейна. Возникало множество проблем, но найти пути их решения лидер коллектива был, к сожалению, не в состоянии, из-за своей серьезной наркотической зависимости. В итоге на свет появилась пластинка, которая была воспринята многими музыкальными критиками с прохладцей и скепсисом. Группа выпустила альбом, уступающий по многим параметрам своему знаменитому предшественнику. "So Far, So Good...So What?! " не показал творческого роста команды, если не стал шагом назад в её развитии. Увы.
