В 1998-м Багчус и Дэниелс вновь решили поиграть вместе, но на этот раз они скрылись под вывеской Soulburn. Роль басиста и вокалиста отдали Уоннсу Габбелсу из Pentacle, с которым был записан альбом «Feeding on Angels». В том же году пришло трагическое известие – в автокатастрофе погиб бывший коллега музыкантов Тео Луманнс. Через некоторое время Багчус, Дэниелс и Габбелс вернулись к названию Asphyx, и, использовав свои навыки старой школы дэт-метала, выпустили альбом «On the Wings of Inferno». Однако после выхода пластинки объявил о своем уходе Дэниелс, и группа вновь оказалась распущена.
